Disney’s Animal Kingdom 25th Anniversary Celebration

Disney’s Animal Kingdom will celebrate its 25th anniversary on Earth Day, April 22, 2023. Special merchandise, food and beverage offerings, and more will be available in the park to celebrate. The Animal Kingdom 25th anniversary collection will be released at Island Mercantile, Discovery Trading Company, and Mombasa Marketplace.

Disney PhotoPass will offer both Earth Month and 25th anniversary photo ops around Animal Kingdom starting tomorrow. These include special props, Magic Shots, and more. Another highly anticipated photo op — the Moana meet and greet — will begin on April 22. From now through April 23, Wilderness Explorers have the chance to earn a special badge by completing a limited-time nature challenge. More information is available at any of the Wilderness Explorer locations.

Beloved Muppets Kermit and Animal embarked on an after-hours tour of Disney’s Animal Kingdom in a new video celebrating Earth Month and the 25th anniversary of the park. The Discovery River Character Cruise has also added some new Disney character sightings and meet-and-greets in honor of the celebration. Koda and Kenai from the film “Brother Bear” were spotted cruising along in an Earth Month Flotilla this morning and Tinker Bell, Fawn, King Louie, and Baloo are all greeting guests as part of exclusive anniversary meet-and-greet opportunities.

Fresh on the minds of many guests, Magic Keys returned this week and are basically gone again.

Disney CEO Bob Iger said during the 2023 Annual Meeting of Shareholders call that the Premier Pass would not return, allowing guests to travel to both Walt Disney World and Disneyland with the same annual pass. It wasn’t long, though, before it was announced that both the Disneyland Magic Keys and the Walt Disney World Annual Passes would resume sales. As of today, Magic Keys are already mostly sold out and Disney World Annual Passes open up on 4/20.

Tron has officially opened since last we talked, and we’ll take a look at some of the merch, as well as the newly reopened gift shop and the demand for this long-awaited attraction.

Happily Ever After has returned to Magic Kingdom and EPCOT Forever is back to replace Harmonious. This week, we saw the beginning of the barge demolition.

This Saturday is Earth Day and the 25th birthday of Disney World’s fourth and wildest theme park. We’ll talk about a lot of offerings that will be available at Disney’s Animal Kingdom to celebrate the occasion.

This week in Disney Parks news, Josh D’Amaro said that the new policy changes they’re making are a result of listening to guests. Some of the bigger adjustments include returning to free resort parking for guests, changes to the park reservation system for annual passholders, and additional perks such as ride photos included with Genie+.

As Disneyland prepares for the 100 Years of Wonder, they’ve rolled out some new foods, but also performances of “Fantasmic!” at Disneyland Park have been canceled through February 2, 2023.

In Hong Kong, the new version of Frozen Ever After at Hong Kong Disneyland will have an updated Elsa audio-animatronic that does not have a projected face. Can we get that at EPCOT?

Bob Chapek is out and Bob Iger is back! While this should be amazing news for Disney fans everywhere, what will it mean for the parks, and how soon will we start seeing some changes? We’ll discuss in our pressing issues segment.

In Parks news, the holidays are in full swing! Disneyland and Disney World are decorated and full of fun offerings. We’ll talk through some of our favorites that you won’t want to miss.

The biggest change since we’ve talked was the EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays, which started on November 25th and will continue through the end of the year. Also, while we were away, Magic Keys went back on sale again at Disneyland, and then sold out almost immediately.

At Walt Disney World, we now have an idea of when we will see the return of the train at Magic Kingdom, and the opening of Tron Lightcycle Run. In Parks news, Hurricane Nicole invaded Orlando last week, and Disney was ready. Also, the Q4 earnings call dropped, and now analysts are after the CEO due to falling stock prices. Meanwhile, the company is having a hiring freeze and buckling up for a possible recession – how will this affect the parks?

Black Panther has landed in the parks after hitting theaters last Friday, Passholders were treated to a special showing of Fantasmic, and Tokyo debuted a new nighttime show!

Finally, after talking about it for weeks, the holidays are here! We’ll be pointing out some of our favorite treats on both coats, taking a look at the merch, entertainment, and decor, and giving our thoughts on this year’s Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party!
