Live Action ‘Little Mermaid’ Loungefly Mini Backpack – $88

The new Loungefly mini backpack is primarily a blue simulated leather design with characters from the film plastered across the front.

Atop we see Melissa McCarthy’s Ursula along with a Disney | Loungefly enamel plaque. The front pocket zipper is hidden under a wavy stitched design.

On the bottom we see Halle Bailey’s Ariel front and center with her wavy hair taking up much of the right side. Jacob Tremblay’s Flounder on the lower left is also visible. Designs of seashells and seaweed are present. Bubbles also dot the art.

The side pockets have no design.

On the back we see Daveed Diggs’ Sebastian and Awkwafina’s Scuttle in the lower right corner along with seaweed designs.

The interior lining features several of the film’s characters along with these seafloor patterns.

‘The Little Mermaid’ in Cinemas May 26

New teasers have continued to saturate social media,

On May 26th, Disney is premiering the live-action re-imagining of the 1989 animated movie “The Little Mermaid.”

Sporting an all-star cast, Oscar-nominated Rob Marshall, who is known for his work with “Chicago” and Disney’s “Mary Poppins Returns” will be directing the film. The remake stars Halle Bailey as mermaid princess Ariel, Jonah Hauer-King as Prince Eric, Daveed Diggs as Sebastian the crab, Awkwafina as diving bird Scuttle, Jacob Tremblay as Flounder, Javier Bardem as King Triton, and Melissa McCarthy as Ursula.

A new character for the live-action “The Little Mermaid” will also be introduced in this film. Eric’s mother, Queen Selina, will be joining the tale. We recently shared stills and behind-the-scenes images from the upcoming live-action movie. Check them out here.

Nubs Star Wars Plush – $22.99

Nubs is a Pooba — one of countless sentient species inhabiting the galaxy, and is also the first ever of his kind to be mentioned or introduced in franchise history.

The character and his plush are characterized by fluffy blue fur, silver-azure whiskers, deep aqua eyes, and expansive, poofy ears.

He dons a bronze-shaded cape, typical Jedi garb worn by most members of the Order from youngling to master. Younglings are the youngest of Jedi — children with connections to the Force who are often mentored by Master Yoda before eventually becoming apprentices called “Padawans.”

A Galactic Adventure for All Ages

Set in the High Republic era well before the nine films of the Skywalker Saga, this particular show is notable for being the first of its kind in the “Star Wars” universe, with a concept specifically geared toward young audiences. Several fans have been excited by this prospect, finally having the potential opportunity to introduce their children to a beloved fandom with less intense but equally qualitative adventures.

The story, as described in the aforementioned press release, follows a group of Jedi younglings centuries before events witnessed in the prequel trilogy films “as they study the ways of the Force, explore the galaxy, help citizens and creatures in need, and learn valuable skills needed to become Jedi along the way.”

Their journey teaches lessons of compassion, self-discipline, teamwork, patience, and friendship. The full trailer is available below:

Elliot Bour serves as Supervising Director, with other notable directing work on “Elena of Avalor”, “Kronk’s New Groove”, and “Winnie the Pooh: Springtime with Roo”, to name a few. Additionally, Michael Olson is functioning as showrunner, known for his work on “Puppy Dog Pals”. The cast of “Young Jedi Adventures” includes Jamaal Avery Jr. as youngling Kai Brightstar, Emma Berman as pilot/friend Nash Durango, Juliet Donenfeld as youngling Lys Solay, Dee Bradley Baker as youngling Nubs, Jonathan Lipow as droid RJ-83, and Piotr Michael as the eponymous Master Yoda.

Showrunner Olson described his personal attachment to the project, and the reasoning behind his desire to create a Jedi experience for younger audiences:

When my daughter was born, like any proper fan, I bought a billion Star Wars plushies and onesies for her, and, as she was learning her ABCs, I read her a Star Wars ABC book. She learned what an Ugnaught was before she knew what an umbrella was. There’s always that moment in a Star Wars parent’s life when you’re wondering, ‘Okay, when do I get them into the saga?’ It was then I realized I wished that there was some sort of show or movie that was tailored for kids her age. I came to Lucasfilm with this wild and crazy idea, and I was so delighted that they were receptive to this vision.

While there is no word yet about a possible second season, the entire first season is available right now, comprising seven episodes divided into two separate stories per entry.

Star Wars Overlay Returns

As an overlay, the physical experience of the track layout and ride is unchanged; however, the orchestrations of John Williams replace the attraction’s regular Michael Giacchino score, and various Star Wars imagery is strewn about. A full ride POV is available below:

The queue also takes part in the festivities, with Star Wars characters greeting guests on screens as they enter, and Aurebesh (the Star Wars galaxy equivalent of our alphabet) captions on signs. A Star Destroyer can also be seen depicted above the loading platform.

The Hyperspace Mountain overlay is currently used at three of the Disneyland parks. The version at Disneyland Resort in Anaheim opened as part of the “Season of the Force” event on November 14th, 2015. The Hong Kong Disneyland version opened on June 11th, 2016, as part of the “Star Wars: Tomorrowland Takeover” event. On May 6th, 2017, the update opened in Disneyland Paris as Hyperspace Mountain.

In Paris and Hong Kong, the overlay appears to be permanent, for the time being, at least. Originally intended as a brief stint, both versions have continually operated for multiple years now. The version in California returns seasonally and for 2023, it will run until June 4.

Disneyland After Dark: ‘Star Wars’ Nite

The overlay is just in time for Disneyland After Dark: “Star Wars” Nite, where, according to Disneyland’s official announcement, guests will enjoy “the ultimate Star Wars extravaganza at an after-hours party packed with galactic fun.” The event began this year on May 2, and is additionally slated for May 4, 8, and 11, 2023.

Event highlights include:

• Early admission at 6:00 p.m. with no park reservation required
• “Star Wars”: Celebrate the Nite Fireworks Show featuring iconic music from the films as a pyrotechnical spectacle illuminates the skies above Sleeping Beauty Castle
• Character experiences
• Galactic Dance Party
• Disney PhotoPass photographers taking guests’ pictures against event-themed backdrops
• After-Hours access to attractions, including Star Tours – The Adventures Continue, Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run and Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance with (usually) shorter wait times
• Themed eats including sweet and savory menu options at select Disneyland Park locations
• Themed merchandise, while supplies last
• Event Keepsakes, including a commemorative credential and guide map as well as unlimited downloads of Disney PhotoPass digital photos taken during the party
• Costumes allowed: dress up as your favorite “Star Wars” character

Disney Cruise Line 25th Anniversary Popcorn Bucket – $8.50

The silver anniversary popcorn bucket has a gold lid, decorated on its body with various Disney characters and the ships that comprise Disney’s lineup of ocean vessels. Sorcerer Mickey and the Disney Wish (the newest of Disney’s cruise ships) occupy the center, with the motto “Setting Course for Adventure” complementing the 25th anniversary logo.

Rapunzel and Goofy can be seen on the sides, along with the Disney Dream (launched 2010) and Disney Magic (launched 1997).

Dumbo, Donald Duck, and the Duck nephews are also featured, alongside the Disney Fantasy (launched 2012) and Disney Wonder (launched 1998).

The Silver Anniversary at Sea

Disney Cruise Line is celebrating 25 years of sailing with the Silver Anniversary at Sea celebration on select voyages from May through September 2023. The first Disney Cruise Line ship, Disney Magic, launched in 1998.

Mickey and Minnie just revealed their new shimmering teal and white costumes for the anniversary celebration. The rest of their friends will also have new costumes.

Guests will be invited to join the ship’s captain and cruise director on one evening of each cruise for a special anniversary toast, featuring the anniversary’s new theme song.

Disney cruises were the first ever to perform fireworks shows at sea, and a new 25th anniversary fireworks display will premiere during the festivities. The limited-run show will feature iconic Disney music on most Bahamian, Caribbean, and Mediterranean sailings this summer.

The anniversary of Disney Cruise Line also heralds the unveiling of a brand-new membership tier for Castaway Club, which recognizes returning Disney Cruise Line guests with exclusive rewards and perks. Honoring 25 years of Disney expeditions at sea, members will now earn the distinction of Pearl status after 25 trips. As the line’s biggest fans, Pearl members will unlock new at-home and onboard benefits, which will be announced in early 2023.

Castaway Club members who sail during the Silver Anniversary” will additionally receive a limited edition 11×14 framed Captain Mickey art print in their stateroom. The artwork is by Disney artist Joe Kaminski.

The Shimmering Seas Collection of merchandise includes a Loungefly mini backpack, Spirit Jersey, and more. Check out the merchandise we’ve found so far on board. There will also be plenty of Silver Anniversary-inspired food and beverage items.

Bookings for summer 2023 cruises featuring the anniversary celebration are available now on disneycruise.com, and there are multiple itineraries to choose from:

• Departing from Miami May 24 to Sept. 4, the Disney Magic will visit destinations in the Bahamas and Caribbean, including Disney’s private island, Castaway Cay. 
• The Disney Wonder will depart on Alaskan voyages from Vancouver, Canada May 15 to Sept. 11, with stops in Juneau, Skagway, Ketchikan, and more. 
• From May 7 to Sept. 17, the Disney Dream will sail transatlantic and European itineraries, including the Mediterranean, Northern Europe and the Greek Isles.
• The Disney Fantasy will set sail from Port Canaveral, Florida May 6 to Sept. 2 to the Eastern and Western Caribbean, each with a day at Castaway Cay.
• Disney Cruise Line’s newest ship, the Disney Wish, will depart on sailings to Nassau, Bahamas and Castaway Cay May 1 to Sept. 8 from Port Canaveral. 

MagicBand+ will also debut on the cruise ships this summer.

Get ready to rock out to the far-out new Disney+ series The Muppets Mayhem with this D23 Member-exclusive collection of groove-tastic merchandise, made just for the ultimate Muppet fan by Mickey’s of Glendale—the Walt Disney Imagineering campus store!

Three unique t-shirt designs, a pair of drumsticks, hat, and mug are all on offer, themed to the various band tours of Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem through the decades.

The first window of availability will be for D23 Gold Members only, starting at 7 a.m. PT on May 10 until 11:59 p.m. the following day, May 11.

On May 13, the collection will be open to all D23 members, starting at 7 a.m PT.

‘Muppets Mayhem’ Streaming on Disney+ May 10

“The Muppets Mayhem” is co-created by Bill Barretta, Jeff Yorkes, and Adam F. Goldberg. It stars Lilly Singh as Nora, an aspiring record producer who is helping Electric Mayhem record their first album. Nora has help from her social media influencer sister, Hannah (Saara Chaudry), and Electric Mayhem fan, Gary “Moog” Moogowski (Tahj Mowry).

Barretta cited his inspiration for the series as the 2016 Outside Lands music festival when Electric Mayhem played a set.

It was unbelievable. It was … one of the most amazing experiences I’ve had with the Muppets. There was something like 30,000 people that came to the park. I thought, ‘Well, there’s something there.’ What if this band went on the road? What if the band went on tour? And so, I started developing an idea for a show about the band because we don’t know that much about them.

The series will have ten episodes and be packed full of music. According to Goldberg, the first five episodes will mostly feature covers of classic rock, but the band will eventually debut original songs.

An Entertainment Weekly feature on “Mayhem” notes that while there will be lots of cameos, other Muppets may not appear.

“We are telling a regular story in the real world with Muppets,” Co-Creator Goldberg said. “So we tried to ground everything and keep it realistic as opposed to all of a sudden there’s talking fruit in your fridge.”

Regarding her casting as one of the few people of color to star alongside the Muppets, Singh said, “Everyone has a memory of seeing the Muppets for the first time. Everyone has a love story with the Muppets. I had never seen myself in those stories. I know other people probably don’t see themselves. I really wanted this role so that it could look different.”

The sibling relationship between Singh’s Nora and Chaudry’s Hannah is a “key ingredient” to “The Muppets Mayhem,” actor Chaudry says. “Nora and Hannah go through a lot together. They grow as people, but as sisters as well.” The human interactions on the show will drive the story as much as the band members do.

The iconic saxophone entrance marquee from Jazz Kitchen’s opening in 2001 was removed earlier this month, and a more subdued, bright orange & pink logo now stands in its place.

The intent of this new theming and approach to design is to give the restaurant a cleaner look and atmosphere of “vibrant California energy” — as the Kitchen’s menu will also be receiving updates in accordance with this renewed vision. The official Disneyland website has its own description of these changes on the restaurant’s page:

Get ready for the updated Jazz Kitchen Coastal Grill & Patio, which will spring to life over the next few weeks! Visitors can soon enjoy a fresh approach to the menu, incorporating a vibrant California energy while staying true to the heart of New Orleans. Please check back for the latest on hours, menus and more.

The restaurant’s express window, famed for offering beignets to-go, has closed for work to convert into Beignets Expressed.

New food will include the popular Pasta Jambalaya and Gumbo Ya-Ya, plus fresh riffs using coastal-inspired ingredients like the new open-faced Grilled Lobster BLT Po’ Boy, pictured above. Signature hand-crafted beignets will continue to be a staple, with an expanded menu including specialty glazed beignets that are dipped, drizzled and sprinkled in jazzy signature and seasonal flavor combinations.

Major Changes Coming to Downtown Disney

The Downtown Disney District at Disneyland Resort is currently undergoing a transformation which includes several new shops and restaurants on the way. The new spaces set to be constructed are inspired by the mid-century space age look which was incredibly popular in California during the 1950s and 60s.

We’ve heard about plenty of these new outlets thus far, such as the award-winning Din Tai Fung, which serves Chinese food including bao, wontons, and more. Other outlets on the way include the beloved Porto’s Bakery, and a new permanent home for Earl of Sandwich. Currently, the sandwich shop sits in the former home of La Brea Bakery, which will be the site of Porto’s in the near future.

All of this work on the resort’s entertainment, shopping, and dining hub is merely one portion of larger plans connected to the DisneylandForward initiative — a multi-year public planning effort alongside the City of Anaheim. Its stated purpose is to update existing development approvals to promote future expansion, development, and investment for Disney and Anaheim.

Aside from the artistic concept above, not too many details are available for the future of Disneyland yet, though plans are well into development, and a public informational meeting was held just a few weeks ago.

Jurassic Park UOAP Magnet

“UOAP” is in yellow lettering, with “Passholder” in white at the bottom of the magnet. The original “Jurassic Park” logo is in the “O” in red, and a claw mark rips through everything to the bedrock beneath.

The magnet is available from May 1 to May 26 while supplies last.

Passholders can pick it up from Five and Dime at Universal Studios Florida from park open to close, or the new UOAP Lounge in Toon Lagoon at Universal’s Islands of Adventure from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. daily.

The magnet is available just ahead of the 30th anniversary of the first “Jurassic Park” film in June.

Jurassic Park 30th Anniversary Tribute Store

An Easter egg hinting at the Jurassic Park 30th anniversary Tribute Store recently appeared in the window of Studio Styles at Universal Studios Florida.

The new Tribute Store will celebrate 30 years since the iconic “Jurassic Park” was released in 1993 and is set to feature a look inside the film’s sets rather than transport you into the film itself.

Rumor has it the new shop will open near the end of May, consistent with the Classic Movies Tribute Store last year. That store opened on May 26, 2022, and featured rooms based on “Back to the Future,” “JAWS,” and “E.T.”

Jurassic Park at Universal Parks Worldwide

There are of course so many ways to experience the world of Jurassic Park at Universal Orlando Resort and at other Universal Parks worldwide! Here at Universal Orlando, there’s an entire land dedicated to the franchise at Universal’s Islands of Adventure.

The three main attractions are Jurassic Park River Adventure, which sails you through the park to encounter various dinosaurs, Pteranodon Flyers, a kids-only journey above the skies of kiddie area Camp Jurassic, and the newest addition to the park — Jurassic World VelociCoaster! This exciting coaster takes you on a journey through the velociraptor paddock at Jurassic World and is the first ride at Universal Orlando to be based on the latest trilogy of “Jurassic” films, featuring appearances by Chris Pratt as Owen Grady and Bryce Dallas Howard as Claire Dearing.

Across the country at Universal Studios Hollywood, the Jurassic Park attraction got a heavy retheme at that park to become Jurassic World: The Ride. Featuring a combination of screen effects and audio-animatronics, the ride is still largely the same, taking guests on a tour through Jurassic World. But now at the ride’s exciting climax, you come face-to-face with the impressive Indominus Rex animatronic!

At Universal Studios Japan, a mirrored clone of Jurassic Park: The Ride opened with the park in 2001, and a flying coaster called The Flying Dinosaur lets guests experience the thrill of soaring above the skies with a pteranodon. It’s often described as one of the most intense coasters at any Universal park!

Universal Studios Singapore features a unique take on the Jurassic Park River Adventure attraction, with a circular raft system similar to Kali River Rapids at Disney’s Animal Kingdom rather than boats. There’s also a short Pteranodon Flyers-like attraction called Canopy Flyers which all ages can ride.

Finally, at Universal Studios Beijing, two completely original attractions were created for the park based on the newer trilogy. Jurassic World Adventure is an indoor dark ride that takes guests on a journey through Isla Nubar complete with an animatronic dinosaur chasing riders! And Jurassic Flyers takes guests on a soaring journey above the island, in a much more thrill ride sense than in Orlando or Singapore.

Dok-Ondar is an infamous collector who buys, sells, and trades rare and valuable relics in his Den of Antiquities in Black Spire Outpost. Known as the gatekeeper of the black market, he has amassed an impressive collection of unique artifacts that is unrivaled in the galaxy. A mysterious Ithorian with an even more mysterious past, Dok-Ondar is sought after for his knowledge and connections.

The Dok-Ondar audio-animatronic at Disney’s Hollywood Studios is sometimes concealed behind a curtain for maintenance, but typically greets and bargains with guests inside his shop. Ithorians like Dok-Ondar lack the organs to speak Galactic Basic, so you may have trouble striking a deal.

May the Fourth Be Monetized

Looking for more ways to celebrate May the Fourth’s approach? “Return of the Jedi” is in a limited theatrical re-release right now to recognize the 40th anniversary of the original trilogy’s conclusive entry. Die-hard fans may be somewhat dismayed to know this is the 1997 Special Edition and not the original version, though still overwhelmingly the classic as we know it.

A 40th anniversary legacy edition of Luke Skywalker’s lightsaber from the aforementioned film is also available on shopDisney now for $249.99.

Three new Funko Pop! figures are being introduced, one inspired by friendly droid companion R2D2, with the other two featuring Darth Vader with his lightsaber and on his TIE Bomber, respectively.

On May the Fourth, discounts up to 60% (varying by retailer and region) will be available for “LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga” on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and Steam.

Additionally, “Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes” will offer free daily login perks throughout the month of May, character shards, and more to be announced.

Wristwatches inspired by Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader will soon join Citizen’s Disney Wonder of Time array of 100th anniversary products.

For fans of the “Disney Emoji Blitz” mobile game, this month’s Token Quest is offering players the chance to collect Platinum Grogu.

A new limited edition Cal Kestis lightsaber will be arriving soon, in honor of the main protagonist in the hit video games “Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order” and its newly-launched sequel, “Survivor.”

The Disney100 Star Wars PEZ Gift Tin is launching, with a six-pack of PEZ candy refills included.

There are several more items featured this month, with a larger listing in the Parks blog post. LEGO sets, books, and conversation cards are all in the mix of May the Fourth goods.

Fitzpatrick stated he is related “in the third degree” to someone employed by one of the parties, and sought to avoid any potential conflict of interest by stepping aside. The case will now be assigned to a different judge.

The Battle of Central Florida

In the suit, Disney cites “a targeted campaign of government retaliation — orchestrated at every step by Governor DeSantis as punishment for Disney’s protected speech.” The plaintiff further argues that this chronology of events “threatens Disney’s business operations, jeopardizes its economic future in the region, and violates its constitutional rights.”

Among other grievances, the Governor’s threat of new tolls and taxes, and the Board’s decision to void the company’s final agreement with the Reedy Creek Improvement District Board were included in the document.

The Walt Disney Company is suing for “declaratory and injunctive relief.” Injunctive relief forces a party to act in a certain way or prevents them from doing various things. An “injunction” is sometimes known as a restraining order.

Disney regrets that it has come to this, but having exhausted efforts to seek a resolution, the Company is left with no choice but to file this lawsuit to protect its cast members, guests, and local development partners from a relentless campaign to weaponize government power against Disney in retaliation for expressing a political viewpoint unpopular with certain State officials.

CEO Bob Iger previously accused DeSantis of violating the company’s First Amendment right of free speech. The company is demanding multiple items of relief be met, including:

• A. Declare that the Legislative Declaration is unlawful and unenforceable because it abrogates Disney’s rights in violation of the Contracts Clause;
• B. Declare that the Legislative Declaration is an unlawful taking of Disney’s property rights without payment of just compensation in violation of the Takings Clause;
• C. Declare that the Legislative Declaration is unlawful and unenforceable because it was an arbitrary and irrational voiding of the Development Agreement and Restrictive Covenants in violation of the Due Process Clause;
• D. Declare that the Legislative Declaration is unlawful and unenforceable because it was enacted in retaliation for Disney’s speech in violation of the First Amendment;
• E. Declare that the Contracts remain in effect and enforceable;
• F. Declare that Senate Bill 4C and House Bill 9B are unlawful and unenforceable because they were enacted in retaliation for Disney’s political speech in violation of the First Amendment;
• G. Issue an order enjoining Defendants from enforcing the Legislative Declaration;
• H. Issue an order enjoining Defendants from enforcing Senate Bill 4C and House Bill 9B;
• I. Award Plaintiff its attorney’s fees and costs;
• J. Grant such other relief as this Court may deem just and proper.

Origins of the Feud

The Florida Governor and Walt Disney Company initially clashed over the corporation’s opposition to a much-debated and controversial Florida law regarding classroom instruction and discussion on sexual orientation and gender identity in public schools, alongside various other recent state laws and proposals in a similar vein.

Bob Chapek was Chief Executive Officer at the time and initially remained silent and passive on the issue — until massive internal criticisms from cast members and controversy over Disney’s practice of making hefty political contributions to campaigns and individuals allegedly against their own stated human principles came into focus.

In an apparent act of retribution over Chapek’s expression of dissent, the Governor moved forward with various verbal and legal assaults on Disney, including the attempted dissolution of Reedy Creek and the eventual transfer of power directly under his control. DeSantis argues he is attacking a rather vague perception of something he calls “woke politics,” invading the state. He further says he aims to put the people of Florida first through his actions:

Disney has gotten away with special deals from the state of Florida for way too long. It took a look under the hood to see what Disney has become to truly understand their inappropriate influence.

The Governor insists he will double down on efforts to punish the resort through methods both in the Legislature and the Central Florida Tourism Oversight Board. Notably, he promised to hike hotel taxes and institute tolls on the roads around Walt Disney World Resort property. Additionally, a bill was recently put forth that would require state inspections of the property’s Monorails.

The New Annual Passholder Lounge

The doors swing open at 11 a.m. with Team Members ready to greet guests at an entrance podium. Hours may be subject to change once the lounge officially opens next month.

As its title suggests, the space is exclusive to passholders only, who can relax on couches and chairs in the lounge, charge electronic devices, pick up magnets or other perks, stock up and drinks and snacks, and shop for merchandise whilst in the air-conditioned room.

A large portion of the apparel and merchandise displayed is specifically branded for annual passholders, or UOAPs.

Soft drinks, Powerade, candy, and freestyle cups are among the refreshments on offer.

A myriad of clever signs and references are also featured:

The previous lounge at Universal Studios Florida closed December 31 last year.

Universal Pass Information

For anyone interested in purchasing an annual pass for the two theme parks, the resort currently offers four different types.

• Premier: unlimited park-to-park access with early park admission, Universal Express after 4 p.m., free valet or prime parking, one free admission to Halloween Horror Nights, and various other discounts. $789.99 is the full price, or monthly with a down payment of $420.67.
• Preferred: unlimited park-to-park access with early park admission, free general parking, and various other discounts. $529.99 is the full price, or monthly with a down payment of $282.23.
• Power: park-to-park access with select blockout dates, 50% off general parking after first visit, and some discounts. $374.99 is the full price, or monthly with a down payment of $199.69.
• Seasonal: park-to-park admission with numerous blockout dates and some discounts. $324.99 is the full price, or monthly with a down payment of $173.06.

All of these passes are available with the Volcano Bay water theme park added for an additional fee, and all include access to the lounge.

“Walt Disney World Est. 1971” Tee – $39.99

The design is fairly subdued, with “Walt Disney World” etched on the top, with a circular frame containing Cinderella Castle. “Est. 1971” is placed at the bottom, signifying the year the resort officially opened to the public. This particular version of the shirt is predominantly gray with blue complements.

These new Walt Disney World shirts are also available in blue & gold, pink & silver, and black & silver. The first three were all found at the Emporium on Main Street, U.S.A. — while the black & silver is currently available at Star Traders in Tomorrowland.

Castle Ball Cap – $29.99

As Mother’s Day approaches, a new castle ball cap is being advertised as a holiday gift at Star Traders.

A sparkling Cinderella Castle with the signature “D” of Walt Disney’s autograph and Disney logo comprises the primary design, while the brim is highlighted with a royal trim. That hat itself has a light pink hue.

“Walt Disney World” is embroidered on the back.

Poseidon’s Fury Farewell T-Shirt – $27

The vintage design is in poster form, notifying guests of the closure. Professor Elias Baxter of the Global Discovery Group invites us to visit Poseidon’s Temple and see Lord Darkenon in person on one final tour, departing from base camp on May 9.

Supplies will likely evaporate swiftly, so be sure to inquire about this item soon to “Seek the Trident & Restore the Peace.”

Poseidon’s Fury is a walk-through show attraction. It has been an anchor of Islands of Adventure since the park opened in 1999, albeit with a totally overhauled version that replaced the original in 2001.

Last Chance for a Universal Classic

As the t-shirt itself indicates, May 9 will be the final excursion into the temple.

Poseidon’s Fury had previously been closed for an extended refurbishment, between August 2020 and March 2022, before finally being accessible to guests again. The attraction’s façade was refreshed, and while nothing regarding the story inside was altered, the effects were crisper and clearer than they’d been in years. Guests are escorted through three different rooms, progressively getting deeper in the temple. In the first, they are introduced to Taylor (one of Professor Baxter’s archeological assistants), who explains that the current room was a ceremonial chamber for Poseidon before Lord Darkenon sealed it and sacrificed everyone inside to the Dark One.

After uttering a hidden inscription on the walls, Darkenon is awakened and takes the group hostage — beckoning everyone into the hidden second room with his sinister voice.

After some taunting, everyone is locked in this new chamber, until Taylor stumbles upon Poseidon’s trident among a collection of jewels, trinkets, and treasures.

A goddess protector is summoned, who conjures a tunnel of water that guides guests into the final chamber. Perhaps the most stunning technological marvel of the entire experience, this tunnel was a major feat of engineering when Technifex began its development in the mid-90s.

Without spoiling all of the surprises, the final room can be surmised as an epic mythological duel between Poseidon and Darkenon for the fate of the world.

Wondrous Journeys is described by the official Disneyland website as a journey through the history of animated Disney artistry:

For over 100 years, Walt Disney Animation Studios has unlocked a special kind of wonder in our lives. These films have inspired us to dream bigger, unleash our spirit of adventure, discover the power within—and realize that it’s kind of fun to do the impossible. Wondrous Journeys is an enchanting celebration of the wishers, dreamers and artists at Walt Disney Animation Studios who have shared their imagination and talents with the world.

While the main canvas for the show is Sleeping Beauty Castle and Main Street, U.S.A., guests can also hear the audio and see unique projections and effects throughout the park. All of “it’s a small world” is lit up and utilized in Fantasyland, whilst water fountains and water projections normally adorn the river forefront of Tom Sawyer Island. Since the fire, though, this area remains dark and empty throughout the presentation’s duration.

Much like “Fantasmic!,” which remains dark through at least mid-May, “Wondrous Journeys” utilizes the water screens built into the Rivers of America. But these systems are the same ones used for the beloved battle between good and evil nightly, meaning the ongoing investigation of the incident and efforts to ramp “Fantasmic!” back up probably take precedence over continuing “Wondrous Journeys” on the river.

Additionally, pyro used in “Wondrous Journeys” has been cut for the moment, along with pyro at every other Disney park save for “Fantasmic!” at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Wondrous Journeys

“Wondrous Journeys” was introduced to Disneyland in January this year as part of the 100 Years of Wonder celebration honoring a century of The Walt Disney Company. The show takes place nightly above the park using projections, and fireworks on select days. During the show, eagle-eyed guests can spot nods to every Walt Disney Animation Studios feature film to date, from “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” to “Strange World.” You can watch a full performance of the show above courtesy of our YouTube channel.

Additional projections can be seen on the façade of “it’s a small world” in Fantasyland, which we also have a video of above.

New Jurassic World Content Potentially Coming Soon

This application was filed on March 28, and according to the United States Patent and Trademark Office, it has been accepted but not yet assigned to an examiner. The summary describes its purpose:

JURASSIC WORLD EXPLORERS trademark registration is intended to cover the categories of entertainment services in the nature of film, television series, short form entertainment content, videos and podcasts in the field of news, sports, comedy, drama, music and variety content; entertainment services in the nature of the production and distribution of film, television series, short form entertainment content, videos, podcasts and games featuring news, entertainment, sports, comedy, drama, music and variety content; providing a website, images and non-downloadable videos in the field of news, sports and entertainment via the internet, mobile and wireless networks; providing interactive online computer games; amusement park attraction and theme park services; live stage performances, namely, presentation of live show performances; providing waterpark services; providing recreational areas for entertainment and amusement, namely, interactive play areas; providing events, contests, displays and exhibits in the field of news, sports and entertainment; providing on-demand and rental of film, television series, short form entertainment content, videos, podcasts and games in the fields of news, sports, comedy, drama, music and variety content; online non-downloadable electronic publications, namely, text and graphic works featuring news, sports and entertainment.

The filing for this trademark suggests some sort of media project, potentially a series for younger audiences, may begin production bearing that name. This isn’t a guarantee of anything, though, with no official announcements and a trademark itself having multiple uses. It’s simply an assurance for Amblin that they’ve secured the rights to any “Jurassic World Explorers” venture, should they desire it. Use in theme parks and on social media are equal possibilities.

Until this development, the only notable time “Jurassic World Explorers” appeared was on branding for a Fisher-Price range of toys geared toward exceptionally young children.

Adding a trademark certainly means the brand will have more usage and visibility very soon, at the very least.

Amblin’s Legacy

Amblin is renowned for several high-profile cinema projects over the decades, including “E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial,” “Back to the Future,” “Jurassic Park,” “Jurassic World,” “Men in Black,” “War of the Worlds,” “Saving Private Ryan,” “Twister,” and “Ready Player One,” among others.

Considering every “Jurassic World” film topped a billion dollars — including last year’s “Dominion” in spite of some lackluster critical and audience reception — it’s safe to assume Amblin and Universal are interested in new stories and merchandise opportunities for the franchise.
