After a long hiatus during the 50th Anniversary of Walt Disney World, the Happily Ever After nighttime spectacular returned to the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World tonight for a very special preview, before its official debut, which will take place on April 3rd, 2023. As a special treat, some lucky Walt Disney World Cast Members received a free preview of the show tonight.

You can watch a video below of the show with just the castle, with the new Main Street, U.S.A projections, or read on for photos.

While the show remained unchanged in soundtrack and in castle projections, the big new feature includes exciting new projections down Main Street, U.S.A., first introduced for “Disney Enchantment.”

Just like on the castle, the show opens with a beautiful red and gold-accent taking over the entire street.

Fireworks flare above the skies as the chorus for “Happily Ever After” kicks in, still sung by Jordan Fisher and Angie Keilhauer.

A little greeting from Tiana segues into “Part of Your World” from “The Little Mermaid. The street comes alive in ocean blues as the orchestra plays.

We then see Rapunzel in her tower before “Out There” kicks in.

The beautiful stained glass window patterns of Notre-Dame take over the street, fitting “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” perfectly.

Then of course there’s “Moana,” represented by torches and other Polynesian flair.

And finally, those pulsing multicolor coverings with gold ornamentation appear along the entire street to accent the grand finale of the show.

Happily Ever After is a spectacular fireworks display and multimedia projection show that features classic Disney characters and music from popular Disney movies. The show is a fan favorite and has been a staple at the Magic Kingdom since 2017. The show went away during the pandemic, then returned on July 1st, 2021 for a few months, before being replaced by Disney Enchantment, which has been performed nightly since the World’s Most Magical Celebration began on October 1, 2021. Now, Disney is preparing for the end of the celebration, making it a great opportunity to bring back this fan favorite show.

Lukewarm Reception to Disney Enchantment

Disney fans eagerly anticipated the new Disney Enchantment nighttime spectacular. However, the show did not quite live up to expectations, leaving many Disney enthusiasts feeling underwhelmed.

One of the main criticisms of Disney Enchantment is that it lacks the emotional resonance of its predecessor. Happily Ever After was beloved for its stirring musical numbers, iconic character appearances, and emotional storytelling. In contrast, Disney Enchantment feels more like a disjointed collection of Disney songs and scenes, without the same level of emotional investment, and curiously, not doing much to celebrate 50 years of Walt Disney World.

Disney made some attempts to improve the show, including the addition of a Walt and Roy Disney sequence. However, it was clear that the demand for Happily Ever After was much greater than it was for Disney Enchantment.

The Return of Happily Ever After

The return of the Happily Ever After show is great news for Disney fans and Cast Members alike. The show is a beautiful celebration of Disney magic and brings together classic Disney stories and characters in a stunning display of lights, fireworks, and music.

Happily Ever After Nighttime Spectacular

Cast Members and their guests were thrilled with the opportunity to see the show before it officially returns to the park. Disney Cast Members work tirelessly to create the magic that guests experience when they visit the park, and this preview is a special “thank you” to them for their hard work and dedication.

The return of this fan favorite show is just one example of the ways in which Disney is working to bring back the magic for its guests. The show is a beautiful celebration of Disney’s storytelling and its rich history of creating unforgettable characters and experiences.

For Cast Members, the return of the Happily Ever After show is sure to be a special moment. These hardworking individuals are the backbone of the Disney experience, and this preview was a wonderful way to thank them for all that they do.
It’s clear that it will once again become a beloved fixture at the Magic Kingdom. Whether you’re a first-time visitor or a seasoned Disney fan, this beautiful show is sure to leave you with a sense of wonder and a renewed appreciation for the magic of Disney.

The jungle drums are beating once again, as Adventureland Day returned to Disneyland last Sunday, March 5th. Following a long, pandemic-induced hiatus, the popular dress-up event has made its comeback, bigger and better than ever.

What is Adventureland Day?

Adventureland Day is an unofficial fan event where Disneybounders, cosplayers, and tiki enthusiasts alike deck themselves in safari swag, feathered finery, and aloha accouterments to immerse themselves in the wildly exotic beauty of Walt Disney’s favorite land.

Led by intrepid tiki artist “Tiki Tony” Murphy, this year’s Adventureland Day event, the first since March of 2020, drew and estimated 300 participants from all over Southern California, and even some from across the country. For adventurers on the other side of the continent, there have also been Adventureland Day celebrations at Walt Disney World.

“What feels like both yesterday and a decade ago, I’m so excited to be back with our Adventureland Day family,” said Murphy.

Murphy, an artist well-known for his family-friendly spin on tiki culture escapism, took on the mantle of ‘head salesman..’ er, ‘head adventurer’ in 2017 as an outlet for his love of treasure hunts and tales of expeditions to exotic lands.

“I always wished there were more clues and riddles to solve in real-life that lead to sunken treasures,” said Murphy. “I said, ‘What the heck? Why not make one myself that others can enjoy!”

Organizing Adventureland Day

Since January, registered attendees received a barrage of text messages from Murphy and his team, prepping them with rules and schedules for the day, while social media accounts were abuzz with outfit checks, hippo memes, and the odd Jungle Cruise joke (very odd).

Early in the day, the “Adventurelanders,” as they call themselves, gathered at the Tropical Hideaway to admire one another’s plumage and gorge on Dole Whips. Instead of saying “hello, they say the unofficial greeting, “Kungaloosh,” a reference to the shuttered Adventurer’s Club, which formerly operated at Walt Disney World in Florida.

“My favorite thing about Adventureland Day is seeing the nostalgia-loving community channel their inner explorer through themed outfits,” said Shawna Tice, a floral designer from Yorba Linda. “Even people who shy away from sticking out of the crowd on a normal basis shine brightly in khaki and animal print that would put a smile on Walt himself.”

By late morning, the weather had turned breezy with a light rain, so the explorers took cover in Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room, where they formed a lovely (at times) chorus alongside José and his pals.

Some Highlights of Adventureland Day

“For me, some of the highlights from Adventureland Day come from the Enchanted Tiki Room experience,” said Clocky McDowell, host of the Sent from Disneyland Podcast visiting from Sacramento. “From the rousing “aloha” response to the Cast Member, to everyone singing along, and finally, the newly wed couple sitting next to me who were not there for the event who got a unique experience in the attraction.”

Then, the massive group, by then swelled to the hundreds, swarmed the boats of the World Famous Jungle Cruise, and the skippers were ready and waiting. Boat after boat left the dock full to the brim with throngs of explorers, all eager to experience the ride’s famous humor and surprises.

“Riding The Jungle Cruise with an entire boatful of people dressed to fit the era the attraction is a surreal and amazing experience that adds an even deeper element of immersion to one of Walt’s greatest attractions,” said Ft. Collins Colorado’s Alex Stewart, host of The Backside of Water Podcast.

Next, Main Street USA became Adventureland for a few moments as the crowd gathered for a mammoth group photo on the steps of the Disneyland Railroad Station.

Attendees then received a barrage of text messages inviting them to join the park-wide scavenger hunt and seek out clues leading to a secret treasure. Guests spread throughout the park searching for hidden details and planted clues which led them to the back corner of Critter Country to claim their prize, commemorative collector’s pins.

“Seeing kids and kids-at-heart solving text clues and using our clue sheet for the treasure hunt just warms my heart and fuels my creativity tenfold,” said Murphy.

One of those kids was Pepper, a 10 year-old from Orange. Dressed in a kaleidoscope of tropical butterflies (yes, that’s what a group of them is called), she hurried her parents around the park to find the clues and collect her prize.

“Adventureland Day means fun and happiness,” said Pepper about the day’s events. “To me it means Kungaloosh!”

Despite the Indiana Jones Adventure and the upcoming Adventureland Treehouse attractions being closed for refurbishment, the attendees made the most of the park’s themed lands concluding their expeditions aboard the boats of the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction in New Orleans Square.

With their day of adventure come to a close, the intrepid explorers gathered at Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar and places unknown to swap stories and raise a glass to another successful Adventureland Day.

“Adventureland Day gives people the chance to create and jump into their own adventure story,” said 15 year-old Banyan from San Diego.

“They get to share their creativity with other dreamers at this event, which builds on the adventure, fun, and imagination. Just like Walt Disney himself wanted.”

The Frisco, Texas City Council and the Frisco Planning and Zoning Commission voted to approve a Universal theme park planned for the Dallas suburb last night in a meeting that featured many vocal critics. The theme park, which will be located off of the Dallas North Tollway, is set to cater specifically to families with children between the ages of 3-11. The Planning and Zoning Commission voted unanimously to approve the park for a Special Use Permit to be forwarded to the City Council for approval. The City Council then voted 4-2 to approve the project.

The plot of land for a new Universal park in Frisco, Texas

The new Universal park is set to be placed on a 97 acre parcel, and will likely include a 300 room hotel. About 30 acres of the land will be dedicated to the theme park, with the rest of the space being used for parking and hotel space. While there are light and noise ordinances in place, the park could operate from as early as 8:00 AM to as late as 10:00 PM. Structures on the site could reach higher than 100 feet. The total area of the park is approximately half the size of Six Flags Over Texas, located approximately 30 miles away.

The park is expected to welcome about 7,000 visitors during weekdays, and twice as many on weekends. For comparison, the city expects a nearby H-E-B grocery store and the local Stonebriar Mall to welcome more guests than the Universal park on a daily basis.

Not much is known about the plans for the park, which is set to begin construction later this year, and has a goal of opening in 2026. However, the concept art and renderings give us a few clues.

Looking northeast from King George Lane, guests will be able to see two towering structures above the tree line and hotel. In this particular rendering, it looks like two possible locations for castle turrets or towers. The renderings may fuel rumors of a potential Hogwarts Castle, but it is unclear whether the Frisco-based Universal Studios park will feature the Wizarding World of Harry Potter.

Universal Studios Frisco 4

Concept art for the theme park is subject to change, but a previous rendering appears to show a Dreamworks-themed park which would seemingly leave the Wizarding World out altogether. The concept art below shows a hotel with clouds on the ground and what looks like the DreamWorks logo at the park entrance.

Universal Parks Resorts Plans to Bring New Concept for Families with Young Children to Frisco 1200x728 1

There are four colorful lands featured in this concept art, also all seemingly inspired by DreamWorks properties. Camp Cretaceous (an animated “Jurassic World” spinoff) is in the top left and “Shrek” is in the top right. The other two lands appear to be “Trolls” and “Madagascar.”

The Frisco City Council and its planning and zoning committee were originally scheduled to vote on the permits required on February 7. The vote was postponed to February 21 and then postponed a second time to March 7. A traffic analysis regarding the new park was also released and updated this month. The proposed park is anticipated to attract 7,500 guests on an average day & 20,000 on peak days and will hire at least 643 Team Members.

Several residents living in the Cobb Hill neighborhood, near the park’s proposed location, have been speaking out against the new park. Steve Cone, a member of the planning and zoning committee and Cobb Hill resident, said it’s important to educate Frisco’s citizens about the theme park as well as listen to their concerns. More information about the park will be made available during a public presentation tomorrow night.

Maybe you have always wanted to visit Walt Disney World and Disneyland on the same day. Perhaps take in the Festival of Fantasy Parade during the day at the Magic Kingdom, and follow it up with Disneyland’s new Wondrous Journeys nighttime spectacular a few hours later. Well pulling this off just got a lot easier with a new route, courtesy of budget carrier Breeze Airways. And due to some fortuitous timing, we got to try it out!

breeze flight featured image 720

We recently reported on their new nonstop routes between Orlando International Airport (MCO) and Orange County’s John Wayne Airport (SNA), which would allow guests an easy and affordable way to travel between Walt Disney World and Disneyland for as little as $69 each way. Shortly after this announcement, we found ourselves needing to travel to Disneyland to cover the opening of the Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival.

The new Breeze Airways itinerary appealed to us, because our first consideration when booking travel is whether or not a nonstop flight is available. The fewer times we have to switch aircraft, the better. Toss in a cheap fare, and we’re in! We’d gone to Disneyland on a personal vacation 2 weeks before, so we were familiar with most of the options. It likely goes without saying, but Breeze Airways didn’t give us any big-time blogger discounts or anything. We spent our company money on regular fares available to the public.

Flying nonstop to Southern California from Orlando has almost always meant you were limited to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). The problem is, it’s more than twice as far from Disneyland as SNA, making it much more expensive to get to the Disneyland Resort once you land, and making the trip much more sensitive to LA traffic delays. A nonstop flight to SNA meant more time at the Disneyland Resort and more money to spend while we were there.

But a nonstop flight for under $100? Is this true? The answer is yes. Technically, anyway. A quick visit to the Breeze website revealed some flights as low as $69 and often $79 for what they call “Nice”. Nice is an 18″ wide economy seat with 30″ of pitch and one personal item. For just under $200 we could upgrade to “Nicer”, which is also 18″ wide, but allows 33″ of pitch, a checked bag and a carry-on. Finally, for $204 we ended up booking “Nicest”, which is a first class seat, that is 20.5″ wide with 39″ of pitch, and allows 2 checked bags and a carry-on with priority boarding. Our full round trip first class fare including all taxes and fees came out to $473. It was cheap enough that everyone’s favorite WDWNT personality, Jason Diffendal, decided to book a trip on the same flight to help out with coverage.

Options from the Breeze Airways website.

For this route, Breeze operates a fairly new Airbus A220-300 with a whopping 36 of the “Nicest” seats in a 2-2 arrangement. There are 10 additional legroom seats, which are in the “Nicer” category, in a 2-3 arrangement, and finally there are 80 “Nice” seats in a 2-3 configuration.

More options from the Breeze Airways website.

For those wondering about baggage fees, a carry-on will run you $35. Your first checked bag is $39, a second checked bag is $40 and a third checked bag is $50.

Whenever you fly a budget carrier, which Breeze Airways certainly is, there are inevitably some compromises. Breeze attempts to leave most of the customer service to their website and app. The website even brags that they don’t have a call center number. The app is simple and easy to navigate. As Breeze operates a relatively small fleet with few destinations, there is certainly a risk that a small ripple of problems upstream can cause waves of problems further down the line. The question is then left to the customer: “How much risk am I willing to tolerate?” That’s a question we can’t answer for you.

We can tell you that airlines across the spectrum of price points all have the potential to disrupt your plans. In the last year alone we’ve had Spirit lose bags, United provide a seat so uncomfortable that it should have been outlawed by the Geneva Convention, and a Southwest flight in December that turned into a lovely 36 hour drive from Orlando to Kansas City and back. Perhaps most cruel of all, Delta punishes most passengers originating in Florida with a mandatory visit to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. There’s always an element of the unknown when it comes to air travel.

Orlando to Santa Ana on Breeze Airways

After catching an afternoon performance of “Festival of Fantasy” at the Magic Kingdom, we headed to Orlando International Airport for our 4:55 p.m. flight. The check-in counter looks like an afterthought, against the windows, across from all the other counters in the main terminal. Since there is only one Breeze Airways plane leaving every day, crowds at the counter are not an issue. We quickly checked our bags and were on our way. It’s worth noting that there IS a flight from Orlando to Provo, Utah as well, but Provo passengers just stay on the plane after it drops everyone else off in Orange County. I suppose this is where it’s valuable to understand the difference between a “direct flight” and a “nonstop flight”.

Breeze Airways check-in area at Orlando International Airport

Breeze leverages technology to keep you up to date, letting passengers know of flight delays and changes via text message. Boarding was delayed by about 20 minutes as we waited for our plane to arrive. It was an interesting moment when we realized our gate agents at Gate 30 were the same people who had checked us in at the main terminal earlier in the day. Guess that’s one area where Breeze Airways saves money, and it isn’t entirely uncommon on international flights either. At any rate, the shiny blue Airbus arrived, and we prepared to board, though by the time the wheels were up, we were about an hour late.

IMG 9669

The “Nicest” seats were extremely large, with plenty of storage, USB charging ports of various sizes, and a number of places to put your electronic devices, including an adjustable shelf suitable for an iPad. Note: While the website provides instructions for using the WiFi, it was not operational for our trip to Orange County, nor was it available on our return flight. We advise downloading your favorite shows or movies for the trip.

IMG 9678
IMG 9877
IMG 3524

We were even treated to a nice view of Walt Disney World from the sky on our way out of town.

The crew were very friendly and casual. It’s clear that Breeze Airways wants them to have fun on the job, and they did. They seemed to forgo the stuffy uniform, allowing them to wear their own clothing, supplementing it with a sweater or vest emblazoned with the Breeze logo. They are equipped with iPads to help sort out any misunderstandings during the boarding process, and then for food and drink orders. It was unclear what exactly which food and drink items were included in the fare. We were given a cocktail and snack item for free. We were given the option to buy a snack box for an additional $8.50.

The flight to SNA was pleasant, with few interruptions from the crew, save a few automated warnings to return to your seat or to fasten your safety belt at various times. Because John Wayne Airport is relatively small, baggage arrived quickly and efficiently, and we were on our way.

IMG 3555

We landed around 8:15 p.m. PST, grabbed our luggage, and made our way to our hotel near the Disneyland Resort. After checking in to the hotel and dropping off our luggage, we headed directly to Disneyland and made it in time to see the 9:30 p.m. showing of a modified version of Wondrous Journeys.

Because Disneyland is open until 11 p.m. even on weekdays in the winter, we had time to hop on Pirates of the Caribbean and Haunted Mansion before we called it a day.

Santa Ana to Orlando on Breeze Airways

We were informed the morning of our return flight that the flight to MCO was going to be slightly delayed. We actually received a few notices as the delay got longer and longer.

IMG 9897 1

It turns out our return was delayed because the plane coming in from Provo was late due to crew hours. Once we were airborne, the flight was uneventful. We landed in Orlando at about 5:30 p.m., but we retrieved our luggage quickly, and were actually able to make it to the Magic Kingdom for a TRON Lightcycle Run preview at 7:00 p.m.

Overall, we wouldn’t hesitate to take another trip on Breeze Airways. The value for the price makes it a more comfortable experience than other low-cost carriers like Spirit or Frontier, and the luxury of the first-class seats is hard to beat on a cross-country flight. While Spirit has the Big Front Seat available for purchase, those seats are extremely limited, unlike Breeze Airways, where they have 36 of them available. But be warned! This is a small carrier, and they are unlikely to be able to tolerate even small disruptions without making you late, or even canceling your flight. If you have the correct expectations going in, you may have a great experience and even save some time and money.

Will you be taking advantage of this deal for the ultimate day of park hopping? Let us know how you feel about the flight or Breeze Airways in the comments below!

The cats are sauntering along without a care in the world. framed by blue scroll patterns.

“Baby Yoda” mania swept the nation when The Mandalorian made its debut on Disney+ in 2019, and Grogu has earned a place in our hearts ever since, and Grogu merchandise has become ubiquitous in Walt Disney World shops. Now you can share the love with your dog, with this adorable Disney Tails Grogu Spirit Jersey.

Social media exploded yesterday with numerous videos of a woman’s loud, rowdy, and sometimes hilarious removal from EPCOT during the 2022 EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival. The journey seems to start in the UK Pavilion, where an apparently drunken woman can be seen being restrained by other members of her party as she argues with Disney Security and Orange County Sheriff’s Deputies.

TikTok user @corasmomster starts our tale with a video and caption “On our way out of Epcot, we encountered a little situation”. Warning: this story contains adult language and lewd gestures. The woman can be heard screaming “You’re the cops! You have every right!” and “I’ve done nothing wrong!” while simultaneously seeming to ask to be arrested as she is directed towards the park exit. She is eventually placed in a wheelchair, and the drunken EPCOT ejection appears to be calming down.

https://www.tiktok.com/@corasmomster/video/7142295163161988398?_r=1&_t=8VeSV1FDX6E&is_from_webapp=v1&item_id=7142295163161988398

However, this tale is far from over. While law enforcement is present, and the woman appears to be in the process of being removed from the park, she is not taken through nearby backstage areas, or through the International Gateway, just steps away. Instead, this parade is headed all the way to the front of the park.

The action picks up again, as @corasmomster films the unruly guest shouting “No! You will not do this to me!” in the walkway near the restrooms between Canada and the Imagination Pavilion. Someone can be heard saying “Lady, let go!” as she loudly refuses to cooperate and shouts at other guests. Items seem to be thrown to the ground at this point, and are retrieved by a Disney Cast Member.

As the saga continues, @coramomster continues to film as the woman appears to calm down, while a patient party member pushes her in the wheelchair. However, the mood quickly intensifies again, as she shouts at a deputy “Look at me in my eyes!” She is restrained in the wheelchair as she tries to rise to confront the puzzled and seemingly patient deputy. But the drunken EPCOT ejection continues.

As we arrive near the park entrance, the woman has dismounted (or fallen out of) the wheelchair, and appears to have more choice words and musters up one little spark of imagination for a rude gesture directed at deputies.

https://www.tiktok.com/@corasmomster/video/7142342782240263470?_r=1&_t=8VeSn7ywunT&is_from_webapp=v1&item_id=7142342782240263470
A woman makes a lewd gesture towards a deputy during her drunken EPCOT ejection.
A Disney guest at EPCOT gestures towards Orange County Sheriff’s deputies as she’s escorted from the park. Screenshot from @corasmomster TikTok video

She is eventually put back into the wheelchair, but attempts to get out of it again on her way out, eventually ending on the ground. She finally staggers towards the exit, presumably to head for the parking lot, where hopefully anyone but her was driving.

While the social media reaction has been huge, this is where the drunken EPCOT ejection story ends for now. Puzzlingly, it doesn’t appear the woman was ever arrested or detained by Orange County Sheriff’s deputies.

@corasmomster provides a full recap of her view of the events in a final recap.

https://www.tiktok.com/@corasmomster/video/7142691459584576814?_r=1&_t=8VebmsHHdx0&is_from_webapp=v1&item_id=7142691459584576814

This is the latest in a long line of wild Walt Disney World incidents, including fights at the Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and more than once aboard ferryboats.

During yesterday’s presentation, “A Boundless Future: Disney Parks, Experiences and Products” by Chairman Josh D’Amaro, Disney shared more information about the Fantasy Springs expansion going on at Tokyo DisneySea.

josh damaro 1155x770 1

For those unfamiliar with Fantasy Springs, this is a large $2B land being added to Tokyo DisneySea, and it will feature new attractions for Tangled, Peter Pan, and Frozen. During the presentation, D’Amaro shared a video of the new Elsa Audio-Animatronic figure that will be part of the Frozen ride. This advanced figure includes extremely detailed facial features. This is in stark contrast to the figures used in Frozen Ever After at EPCOT, which utilize projections for facial movements, and have been known to produce some disturbing technical glitches.

The Elsa Audio-Animatronic stands in stark contrast to these current audtio-animatronics with projected faces.

Instead, as we can see in the video, this Elsa Audio-Animatronic is much more realistic and detailed, with natural gestures and intricate facial movements. Not surprisingly, the Oriental Land Company went the extra mile and had Walt Disney Imagineering create something truly exceptional.

Elsa Audio-Animatronic Video

In the preview, the Elsa Audio-Animatronic can be seen performing the hit song “Let It Go” in Japanese, which is expected to be a scene in the attraction.

Fantasy Springs construction continues to maintain a steady pace, and the land is expected to open in 2023.
