Earlier today, Marvel Studios official X account shared a short, final teaser promoting tomorrow’s release of the Wonder Man Disney+ series.

Wonder Man is the newest live-action Marvel series set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The series puts a satirical, meta-humor spin on the story of its titular hero, Wonder Man, a lesser-known Marvel hero. Rather than focusing on large-scale world-ending stakes, Wonder Man emphasizes character development, humor, and the personal struggles of its lead.

The series centers on Simon Williams (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II), a struggling actor attempting to find success in Hollywood. The show explores the tension between his ambitions as a performer and his emerging identity as a superhero.

Among the supporting cast, the character of Trevor Slattery (Ben Kingsley), another in-universe actor who, in the events of Iron Man 3, portrayed the villain Mandarin.

Much of the narrative is built around the entertainment industry itself, including Simon’s pursuit of a major role in a fictional superhero production, setting up a comedic critique on fame, ego, and celebrity culture within the MCU.

The series falls under Marvel’s “Spotlight” banner, the second show under the banner following Marvel’s Echo. The “Spotlight” umbrella is intended to designate Marvel shows and projects written to be more accessible and less dependent on extensive MCU backstory, while still remaining canon.
