Every January, Grizzly River Run closes at Disney California Adventure for routine maintenance. We checked in on the progress of the rapid ride’s refurbishment, which also includes work on Grizzly Peak itself.
Grizzly River Run Refurbishment

Walls completely surround the entrance to the Grizzly River Run queue, as well as the walkway that leads to the viewing platform and around the back of the attraction. Rushin’ River Outfitters, the ride’s gift shop, is still open.

The ride has been completely drained with scaffolding and construction platforms in the riverbed.

Two blue egg crates containing what appear to be metal mechanical parts can be seen in this spot, which is after the loading area and before the lift hill.

Grizzly River Run’s trademark drop is as dry as a desert. We didn’t see any work being actively done in this area other than some plastic on the walkway bridge handrails.

Grizzly River Run closed earlier this month and does not yet have a reopening date.
Grizzly Peak Mountain Range Maintenance
Meanwhile, on the ride’s backside, Grizzly Peak itself has also been undergoing maintenance.

The rocky façade has several areas swathed in beige scrim over scaffolding. At ground level, green construction walls blocking guest access to the viewing platform. The refurbishment work possibly includes resculpting and repainting these parts of the mountain range.
Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind and Incredicoaster also closed for refurbishment this month, and while Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind reopened on January 23, Incredicoaster will reopen on February 6.
