On the Disneyland website, the January 20, 2026 Hours & Events Calendar currently shows that Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance will be closed starting on that date:

We do not know how long the refurbishment will last nor what is expected to be updated or changed.

Rise of the Resistance Technical Issues

Since Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance first opened at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in December 2019 and Disneyland in January 2020, the high-tech ride has experienced several technical issues over its years of operation, but one has been persistent: the three laser cannons in the battle scene are supposed to move as the ride vehicles dodge them.

However, they were not operational for long on either coast due to the significant downtime their dysfunction caused. As a result, the effect was disabled for years.

Disneyland finally fixed its cannons during the January 2025 ride refurbishment. At this time, the effect is still not operational at Walt Disney World.
