REVIEW: Avatar Chocolate-Sesame-Banana Mousse, Orange Cocktail, and Boba Drink at Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Pandora – The World of Avatar at Disney’s Animal Kingdom has a new dessert and two new drinks inspired by Avatar: Fire and Ash. The third film in the Avatar series will be in theaters on December 19.

REVIEW: New Avatar Chocolate-Sesame-Banana Mousse, Orange Cocktail, and Boba Drink at Disney's Animal Kingdom

Disney announced the new menu items on the day of their debut. The Mangkwan Mousse and Trader’s Tailwind are available at Satu’li Canteen. The Nightwraith Blaze is at Pongu Pongu.

Mangkwan Mousse – $6.29

Cinnamon-Milk Chocolate Mousse, Caramelized Banana Cake, Banana-Sesame Caramel, Chocolate-Sesame Crumble

Our first bite had us wondering what we were eating. But as we ate more, we liked this dessert. The caramelized banana cake and banana-sesame caramel make for an interesting banana bread flavor. We didn’t taste much sesame but we loved the chocolate-sesame crumble. We could eat the crumble all day.

Trader’s Tailwind – $16.50

Captain Morgan Original Spiced Rum, Bols Triple Sec Liqueur, Mango Purée, Minute Maid® Orange Juice, Chamoy, and Ginger Beer with a Chili-Lime-rimmed Glass garnished with a Dehydrated Blood Orange Wheel

Trader's Tailwind drink at Animal Kingdom

This is spicy! The ginger beer kills all the sweet flavor, for better or worse. You can taste a bit of the orange juice, and we didn’t taste the rum. Like the mousse, this is interesting. We felt like the price was a little high for what you get, however.

Nightwraith Blaze – $20.39

Blood Orange, Lychee, and Wildberry Slushy topped with a Glow Cube and Passion Fruit Juice-Filled Pearls (also available with a float of Tito’s Handmade Vodka)

Nightwraith Blaze drink at Animal Kingdom

This mainly tastes like orange slushy. We didn’t taste much lychee or other flavors. It’s also expensive (especially for a non-alcoholic drink) because it comes with a glow cube that’s barely visible during the day. Kids and anyone who likes orange sherbet will like this.
