Go go Power Rangers! MovieWeb has confirmed that a Power Rangers reboot series is coming exclusively to Disney+ from the team behind Percy Jackson and the Olympians.

The reboot was first rumored in March 2025, when TheWrap reported that Percy Jackson and the Olympians showrunners Jonathan E. Steinberg and Dan Shotz had been tapped to create a new live-action Power Rangers series for Disney+ and 20th Century TV with Hasbro Entertainment producing.
MovieWeb talked with Steinberg and Shotz at the Percy Jackson season 2 premiere, and the pair confirmed that the series is happening. According to Steinberg:
“The rumor is true. I can not tell you, but I am very, very excited for that story.”
When asked if the series will be an original story, a continuation of the classic Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, or will involve the series’ original quintet of Jason, Zack, Billy, Trini, and Kimberly, Shotz commented:
“You are asking questions that you know I can’t answer. Let’s just say we very much hope to bring that story to life, so that’s all I can say at this point.”
Power Rangers Franchise
The original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers series premiered in 1993 as a Western adaptation of Japan’s Super Sentai. The franchise has nearly consistently produced TV shows since, the most recent being Power Rangers Cosmic Fury in 2023. The first feature film was released in 1995. Lionsgate and Saban Films attempted a reboot with the 2017 Power Rangers film, but it flopped at the box office.
Hasbro acquired the rights to Power Rangers in 2018 and is now adding it to the stable of multiple film and TV projects in production based on their properties, including Clue, Dungeons & Dragons, Magic: The Gathering, Trivial Pursuit, and Scrabble.
The second season of Percy Jackson and the Olympians premieres December 10 on Disney+. It was renewed for a third season in March.
