The long-awaited Porto’s Bakery is finally happening at Downtown Disney as a large swath of construction walls have popped up around its future site.
Porto’s Bakery Construction
This week, Anaheim approved three permits filed by Disney for the demolition of the former La Brea Bakery (where Earl of Sandwich has been temporarily located) in Downtown Disney District and two nearby Disneyland Resort ticket booths. Although the permits were all filed on April 10, 2025, they were not issued until yesterday, December 8, 2025.

Disney has wasted no time, as only a day later construction walls and barricades now surround the closed restaurant site, the ticket booths, and part of the walkway.

The ticket booths, which are the closest booths on the Disneyland Esplanade to the entrance of Downtown Disney District, closed in November.

This aligns with the concept art, which shows that Porto’s will have an expansive two-story patio area.

Porto’s Bakery at Downtown Disney
Porto’s Bakery was first announced in 2022, but then went quiet until 2024, when they confirmed the Downtown Disney District location was scheduled to open in 2025. With construction only just beginning, no updated opening date has been announced.

Porto’s Bakery was started by Rosa Porto and her family out of their home. The bakery, which currently includes a total of six locations in Southern California, is known for unique Cuban dishes and sweets, including cakes, empanadas, croquettes, potato balls, and sandwiches including the Cubano and Medianoche.
