An Instagram post from Porto’s Bakery, Downtown Disney, and Disney Eats confirm construction is currently underway. Additionally, there are two photos of concept art, one of which had been previously revealed

The second photo shows a new angle of the building, which clearly showcases the outdoor patio on both the ground and second floors.

The white lettering of Porto’s will not only appear on the building, but also on an awning which will cover some, but not all, of the outdoor seating. Trees will be planted between the awning and the building in the middle of the seating area.

The addition of Porto’s Bakery to the Downtown Disney District was first announced back in 2022. After the initial announcement, however, there were no additional updates for several months. Many assumed the silence surrounding the project confirmed it had been scrapped. Last year, Porto’s released a statement confirming the popular café and bakery was still coming to Disneyland Resort. Following this statement, there was no update for several more months.

Porto’s Bakery was started by Rosa Porto and her family out of their home. The bakery, which currently includes a total of six locations in Southern California, is known for unique Cuban dishes like cheese rolls, empanadas, and cakes. One of the recent statements regarding the bakery construction mentioned an expected opening date in 2025, but this has been delayed.

The Downtown Disney District at Disneyland Resort has been undergoing major refurbishments over the past several years. In related news, construction has already begun on a new Earl of Sandwich location. The Earl of Sandwich had previously moved to the former La Brea building as part of a series of temporary relocations. The new Earl of Sandwich building will include a quick-service area on the ground level and a new table-service restaurant upstairs.

Meanwhile, lululemon will be replacing the former ESPN Zone building. Other recent Downtown Disney announcements have included the addition of a Nectar Life store, a Bopo Go! cafe, and an Arthur & Sons steakhouse replacing Tortilla Jo’s and Taqueria.
