Permits Filed for Monsters, Inc. Construction at Former MuppetVision 3D Theater

Disney filed two permits for the former MuppetVision 3D theater, which will be re-imagined into a Monstropolis theater as part of a new Monsters, Inc. land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

The new permits are both for 365 Cypress Drive, the address of the theater. Permit #20250711701 is for “General construction” and contracts frequent Disney collaborator Jon Richards Company. The company has worked on themed elements at all four Walt Disney World theme parks, Disneyland, and Tokyo DisneySea. They installed set elements at Test Track 3.0, new signage for Country Bear Musical Jamboree, and Zootopia: Better Zoogether signage.

Permit #20250711705 contracts Solotech, also for “General construction.” Solotech is an AV company that was also contracted for work on Zootopia: Better Zoogether.

According to Monstropolis concept art, the theater will retain its brick exterior but get a new marquee and eye-inspired clock. The theater is renamed “The Glob,” a play on The Globe. Disney has not confirmed any other details of the theater or its show(s). Crews have been removing themed elements from the theater’s exterior.

The Monsters, Inc. land’s E-ticket attraction will be a roller-coaster set in the Monstropolis door vault. It will be Disney’s first suspended and first vertical lift coaster. It’s under construction outside the park, in a former parking lot.

Concept art also indicates Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano will become Harryhausen’s. PizzeRizzo is expected to be re-themed but remain a quick-service restaurant.
