Nicholas Hoult and Daisy Edgar-Jones will star in new Hulu original series Mosquito by Tony McNamara.
Mosquito
The U.K. comedy series is described as a “sardonic look at a young couple’s relationship.” Hoult and Edgar-Jones play Kate and Ed, a “recently married couple whose secrets begin to reveal as daily life chips away at the personas they present… all started by an intrusive mosquito.”
Hoult previously starred in McNamara’s The Great, another Hulu series.
“I’m thrilled and excited to work with and team up two of the best actors around,” said McNamara. “I can’t wait to go make absurd comedy with them.”
Eric Schrier (president of Disney Television Studios and global original television strategy) and Angela Jain (head of content for Disney+ Europe, Middle East and Africa) said in a statement, “Tony is one of the most talented writers working in film and television today, with a legacy of incredible success at Disney. He has an unmatched ability to bring fascinating and complex stories to life weaving sharply written, intricate dialogue with signature dark humor and complexity. Partnering with him on Mosquito is an incredible step forward for our local original content and reinforces our ambitions in the U.K.”
Mosquito is produced by 20th Television, Piggy Ate Roast Beef Productions, and Hustle & Punch. McNamara, Hoult, and Edgar-Jones executive produce along with Marian Macgowan, Tracy Underwood, and Daniel Pipski.
Filming will begin next year. It will stream on Disney+ and Hulu.
