UPDATE: Interactive Creatures Once Again Functioning (Kind Of) on Pandora: The World of Avatar

Weeks after a pair of aquatic creatures returned to Pandora – The World of Avatar at Disney’s Animal Kingdom in Walt Disney World, their interactive spitting water effect has been sort of repaired.

Working Spitting Sagittaria Return to Pandora

The creatures spit long streams of water in response to motion like a guest waving their arm. Previously, the spitting would happen exactly when you moved your arm, and would be accompanied by synchronized sound effects.

The snail-like cephalopods are known as sagittaria or skuka. They can be seen floating in this Pandora pond. There used to be more than two creatures and their water effects were broken for a long time before they were removed entirely over a year ago.

Upon their return last month, some water sprayed out of the tubes on their heads, but the full effect was not working. A sign also remained in place on the fence around the pond warning guests they may get wet.

We say the effect has kind of returned because, while the sagittaria do indeed spit in response to arm motion, there’s now a slight delay and the sound effects are not in sync.

See the effect as it’s currently working in our video below:
