After ordering a pilot in January of this year, Variety has revealed that Disney+ is not moving forward with the Holes TV series.
Holes TV Series

As we previously reported, Disney had ordered a new series for Disney+ that would reimagine the 1998 Louis Sachar novel Holes. The book was previously adapted by Disney as a 2003 film starring Shia LaBeouf, Khleo Thomas, Sigourney Weaver, Jon Voight, Tim Blake Nelson, Patricia Arquette, Dulé Hill, and Eartha Kitt. In the TV series, the roles would be gender bent version of the story, “a teenage girl is sent to a detention camp where the ruthless Warden forces the campers to dig holes for a mysterious purpose.”
The main character, previously Stanley, was to be named Hayley. with the majority of the camp also including female campers instead of the predominantly-male cast seen in the original novel. Most of the original novel characters were replaced with new characters with nicknames such as Eyeball, Sticky, Mars, and Thumbelina — all of whom are described by Deadline as female.

The names of several main cast members were later released as the project progressed. The cast for the reimagined Holes included Greg Kinnear (As Good As It Gets) as The Warden, Aidy Bryant (SNL) as Sissy, and Shay Rudolph (The Baby-Sitters Club) as Hayley. Other cast members include Flor Delis Alicea, Anire Kim Amoda, Noah Cottrell, Iesha Daniels, Sophie Dieterlen, Alexandra Doke, and Maeve Press.
Holes was written by Alina Mankin, and the pilot episode was to be produced by Walden Media, which previously produced the 2003 Holes film. Liz Phang was the showrunner and executive producer. Disney had not yet set a release date for the series.
