On the Disney Destiny cruise ship, there are a variety of categories to choose from, and we toured the Deluxe Oceanview with Verandah staterooms. The themed staterooms includes Big Hero 6, Incredibles, Mulan, and Brave.

Deluxe Family Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah
Categories

There are four different classifications of this stateroom style:
- Category 4A: Decks 10 & 11
- Category 4B: Decks 8 & 9
- Category 4C: Decks 6 & 7
- Category 4E: Decks 6, 9, & 10
- features an oversized private balcony
The category 4A, 4B, and 4C rooms have identical floorplans. The letter subcategory denotes the location on the ship.
This stateroom option comes in two options. The first, Deluxe Oceanview with Verandah Stateroom, is 243 sq. ft. and sleeps 3-4 guests between a queen bed, a single sofa bed, and a plus, a ceiling pull-down bed if sleeping 4. They have split bathroom layouts with a vanity, sink, shower and combination tub/shower on one side, and a vanity, sink and toilet on the other
The second option, Deluxe Family Oceanview with Verandah Stateroom, is 284 sq. ft. with room for 4-5 guests. It has a queen bed, sofa bed, ceiling pull-down bed, and a single wall pull-down bed if sleeping 5. This stateroom type has the same split bathroom layout.
We were in Stateroom 10056. The rooms feature artwork and details from Big Hero 6.
Entry

The stateroom number has a Baymax detail letting guests know their stateroom is Big Hero 6-themed. The entry leads into a small hallway with two closets on one side. The closet lights activate when you open the door.

In one closet, there are hangers, drawers, and a mini-safe. The laundry bag and laundry slip are in a cubby above a mini-safe.
The lifejackets feature the letter of the stateroom’s evacuation zone. Guests are asked to try on the lifejackets before to ensure they are in good condition and so they know how to secure them in case of emergency.

The second closet has a shelf above a larger hanging space. The ladder is for the pull-down berth bed. There are also robes and more hangers.

At the end of the closet unit is a stack of triangular shelves. These have a small rail to keep items from falling from the motion of the boat. On the opposite wall is a clothing hook.
Split Bathroom

Across from the closet are two doors that lead to the split bathroom.

The one closest to the entry door has the toilet and sink. It has a nightlight option and the mirror above the vanity also lights up. Three glass shelves with rails are mounted to the wall by the sink, with a towel ring on the opposite side.
The toilet has a button on the wall for flushing. A tissue box, spare toilet paper, and a trash can are below the vanity.

The next door has the shower/tub combination and another sink. The tub has a hinged glass door. A full-length mirror is on the back of the door. Another trash can and tissue box are under the vanity.

The bathrooms are stocked with Disney-branded toiletries.
Stateroom

The bed is on an elevated bed frame with room for storage underneath.

The headboard features a scene from Big Hero 6, with Hiro, Baymax, and other characters flying over San Fransokyo.

The sheets are white with a subtle pattern of the DCL logo. The pillowcases feature the same pattern and have golden borders featuring hidden Mickeys. The bed runner is tan with the Destiny logo in the center. A pattern of clouds and stars is on both sides of the logo.

Both sides of the queen bed have small mounted end tables with drawers. The room is equipped with USB and USB-C charging ports as well as standard outlets. One side has a European-style outlet.

Above the end tables are lamps and adjustable reading lights. The lampshades have a similar border design as the pillowcases, which is only visible when the light is turned on.

Across from the queen bed is a 43″ TV. Our one complaint about these staterooms is that, similar to the Disney Treasure, this wall seems pretty empty around the TV.

Heavy curtains can be drawn between the queen bed and the living area that houses the other beds.

There is a vanity with shelves and drawers on the other side of the stateroom. Here is where you will find the telephone. The mirror lights up and there are more outlets for charging your devices. A small brown stool tucks under the vanity when not in use.
The trash can and recycling bin are tucked into a cubby at the end of the unit.

The hair dryer is stored in the vanity drawer here rather than in the bathroom. There’s also a mat for placing heated styling tools. Another drawer holds the mini fridge.
Glasses have paper DCL-branded covers. Under the mirror are switches for the balcony, curtain, ceiling, and mirror light.
In the top drawer are stationery, postcards, room service door hangers, and a guide to criminal activity prevention and response.

Across from the vanity is the sleeper sofa.

When not being used as a sofa, framed artwork featuring sketches of Big Hero 6 characters is on display.
The pull-down bed has plain white sheets. The unit has a built-in reading light for the bed.

The sofa is blue with light blue and yellow throw pillows.

A small table can be tucked against the sofa.
The pull-down berth is above the sofa. If guests want to use the pull-down berth, their room porter will set it up with the ladder, as seen above.
This set up creates a bunk bed situation.

The ceiling has Hercules artwork when the berth is pulled down. Even though this is a Big Hero 6- themed room, the constellation scene spells out “I have often dreamed of a far off place” and has an image of Hercules.

Just past the sofa bed, close to the door that leads out to the verandah, is where the final bed is stored when not in use. The side cabinet has shelves.
This is what it looks like when it has been prepared at the end of the evening.
There are USB -C outlets in the light for charging your digital accessories.

The carpet is a deep blue with lighter blue sunbursts, yellow stars, yellow Mickey icons, and orange designs.
Verandah

A sliding glass door leads out to the verandah. There are heavy curtains and sheer curtains that can be drawn across the windows and glass door.

Framed artwork next to the verandah shows Mochi taking a nap.

The verandah has two chairs, a small table, and deck lighting. The chairs are white with the DCL logo on the back.

For safety, verandahs are equipped with Plexiglass railings and dividers and have childproof locks. Our verandah was slightly angled due to its position, so one end was wider than the other.
If you’re using A/C, make sure to airlock your verandah door. There are sticker instructions on the door.

Other Themes

We also took a look in the other themed rooms in this category. They are all exactly the same, with the only exception being the artwork behind the bed and sofa. Pictured above is the Mulan-themed stateroom.

The Brave artwork shows Merida on her horse as her mother (in bear form) looks on.

Inside the Incredibles room, a scene depicting all the characters is on the artwork behind the bed. Behind the sofa, sketch-style comic book scenes hang on the wall in a framed photo.
You’ll notice in the first Incredibles photo above, this is the Deluxe Oceanview with Verandah, which does not have the single wall pull-down bed next to the sofa. The only difference between the Deluxe Oceanview with Verandah and Deluxe Family Oceanview with Verandah is the additional bed (and thus, square footage). Both staterooms include the same split bathroom layout and private balcony, among other features.
The rooms are similar to those on the Disney Wish and Disney Treasure but with different theming and coloring.
