Disney released the first trailer for the live-action Moana this week, and it was reportedly viewed 182 million views in its first 24 hours.

According to Deadline, the Moana live action trailer has earned 182 million views in its first 24 hours.
For a Disney live-action movie trailer (non-20th Century Studios), that’s the second most viewed trailer for Disney. 2019’s The Lion King beat it with 225 million.
Among all trailers that released this year and their first day traffic, Moana ranks third behind Fantastic Four: First Steps (202M views) The Devil Wears Prada 2 (185M views).

The film stars Catherine Lagaʻaia as Moana, while Dwayne Johnson will reprise his role as the demigod Maui. A slate of Samoan and New Zealand actors round out the cast.
It’s directed by Thomas Kail, an Emmy and Tony Award winner for directing both the stage and filmed productions of Hamilton. The live-action Moana movie is scheduled to be released on July 10, 2026.
