The bridge connecting The Lost Continent to Seuss Landing has been paved — replacing its themed wood planks — and construction walls are back at Poseidon’s Fury as work continues in the Universal Islands of Adventure land. These updates follows Universal’s announcement that there would be “construction activity” in The Lost Continent, possibly to turn it into a new land.
The Lost Continent Bridge
Construction walls were installed on this bridge in September. They ran along the right side (when crossing from Seuss Landing).
There is now black scrim on the left side of the bridge covering a tall fence. There appears to be new unstained wood below the fence and at either end of the bridge.
More notably, the bridge’s flooring is now reddish-brown pavement. It previously consisted of dark brown wood-style planks with metal rivets.
The railings on the right side of the bridge are the same style as before, although seem to have been completely replaced. Wire fencing and chains hang between wooden posts. Like the wood on the other side of the bridge, these posts and the wood base appear to be brand new. They have a fresh reddish-brown stain.
Poseidon’s Fury Construction Walls
Inside The Lost Continent, construction walls have returned to the exit of Poseidon’s Fury, which permanently closed in May 2023. Despite the closure, there have been very few signs of construction in the 2+ years since.
Construction walls went up in this spot at the same time as the bridge walls but came down just a few days later.
The walls have a door for crew member access and two “Set Enhancement in Progress” signs.
Universal still has not confirmed the nature of the construction.
Lost Continent History
The Lost Continent at Universal Islands of Adventure was once split into three sections: the medieval Merlinwood, an Arabian marketplace called Sindbad’s Bazaar, and the Atlantis-style Lost City.
Merlinwood was transformed into The Wizarding World of Harry Potter — Hogsmeade circa 2010. Its existing roller coasters were reimagined from Flying Unicorn to Flight of the Hippogriff and from Dueling Dragons to Dragon Challenge. The latter closed in 2017 and was replaced by Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure.
The main attraction of Sindbad’s Bazaar was The Eighth Voyage of Sindbad, a stunt stage show that closed in 2018. However, the sets have gone untouched and guests could see them when the theater was used as a Cool Zone.
The Lost Continent’s only remaining “attraction” is the Mystic Fountain in Sindbad’s Bazaar. Earlier this year, that area received a How to Train Your Dragon overlay for the live-action remake’s release.
Poseidon’s Fury was a walkthrough attraction in the Lost City. Check out our last look at Poseidon’s Fury and watch our video of the final show below.
