Aboard the Disney Destiny, guests can receive luxury grooming services at Hook’s Barbery, themed to his personal quarters. There is also a bourbon tasting experience for refined relaxation.
Hook’s Barbery
Inspired by Captain Hook’s personal quarters aboard the famed Jolly Roger, this upscale barbery provides grooming services fit for a captain.
Aboard the Destiny, Senses Spa and Salon has extended its reach beyond the typical services offered. At Hook’s Barbery, guests can receive haircuts, hot shaves, and beard trimmings. Plus, manicures, pedicures, and facials are also available.
Services here do require reservations, which can be made at the Barbery or at Senses Spa. They cannot be made in advance like other onboard activities, so guests will want to inquire once onboard.
It is located on Deck 4. An electronic sign at the entrance shows the schedule. Glass doors and windows offer a peek into the space.
There are some stools and chairs available while guests wait for their appointment. The gray paneled walls have some fun artwork on the wall, but the overall tone here is sleek and sophisticated.
Along one wall is a giant oak cabinet with glass displays. Inside guests will see books and other props that play into this Victorian European-style theme. There are also some products that the barbershop uses on display.
Guests can expect heavy leather chairs for comfort. Dark wood tones and deep grays and drapery showcase Captain Hook’s style while also providing a refuge from the buzz of the shop.
The overhead lighting includes various bottles.
More leather chairs are lined up in the salon area, with mirrors, sinks, and cabinets. Guests can look out the porthole.
More props line the top of the cabinets in the barbery, including a clock and a neck brush.
Guests will enjoy getting their feet beach ready with a pedicure.
During treatments and special evening events, guests 21 and older are invited to the barbery to unwind even further. There is a hidden bar, which opens at 5:00 PM, offering specialty bourbon tastings.
The bar consists of a wall with some shelves, containing some themed props, and a counter. It is hidden behind folding closet doors, pictured above.
Bartenders present simple syrups and bitters options, and based on those choices, the bartender suggest a bourbon to go with it. The drink is finished off with a garnish and something called “bourbon cologne.”
During the bourbon tasting experience and spa/salon services, it almost feels like being transported to a different place and time. Guests looking to unwind for a bit would enjoy Hook’s Barbery.
