The Heroes & Villains theme of the Disney Destiny extends to not only the artwork on its walls but the carpeting, light fixtures, and more. Different hallways are themed to heroic films like Hercules, Big Hero 6, Brave, and Fantasia. Join us for a full tour of the ship’s artistry.

Disney Destiny Theming

Above each set of elevator doors is an illuminated “Destiny” panel. The ship’s name is surrounded by white rays and golden elements.

The carpets of the elevator lobbies feature pixie dust patterns. The aft elevator carpets feature Sorcerer Mickey in the center of a blue and gold design with four-pointed stars in the corners. He points towards the front of the ship.

The forward elevator lobbies have a green color scheme instead of blue. Instead of Sorcerer Mickey, Maleficent is pictured in dragon form. There are magical spots of green in the corners.

Hercules

In addition to clues about aft and forward, the carpets also feature symbols representing the local hallway theme. Hercules sections have the lightning bolt symbol descending from clouds in the center of the carpet.

In the actual hallways, the carpets have orange and red clouds surrounding a strip of blue sky. Yellow lightning bolts criss-cross the floors. The carpets of each hallway feature hidden Mickeys, with their ears pointing towards the front of the ship to help guests navigate.

Hercules hallways have blue walls. On the plaques outside each stateroom is a silver version of Hercules’ lightning bolt medallion.

Circular light fixtures on the ceilings have cutout designs that also reflect on the walls. Hercules, lightning bolts, clouds, and Pegasus are on the Hercules lights.

Brave

You’ll know you’re on a Brave floor if you see the Clan DunBroch sword symbol in the carpet.

The hallway carpeting is mossy green, depicting the trees of a forest. The blue spots represent will-o’-the-wisps and some are Mickey-shaped.

The walls are, of course, green. The plaques next to staterooms feature the Kingdom of DunBroch’s bear trio emblem.

Celtic designs are on the light fixtures with the sword symbol and bear symbol.

Big Hero 6

When you enter a Big Hero 6 section, you’ll see an image of San Fransokyo Torii Gate Bridge on the carpet. Baymax’s silhouette is on the bridge.

The carpeting in the hallways features the San Fransokyo skyline in shades of red and orange. Clouds are above and the sun peeks through blue sections. Hidden Mickeys are on flags in the pattern.

The walls in these areas are pale orange. The plaques are red with Baymax medallions.

The San Fransokyo skyline is also on the light fixtures, along with the titular Big Hero 6 team.

Fantasia (Concierge)

The Concierge section of the ship is Fantasia-inspired. One of the brooms that Mickey brings to life is pictured on the carpet carrying buckets of water.

The carpets have large pink floral designs against a green background. Green floral stripes feature the Disney Concierge — a pair of crossed Mickey keys. These point forward.

The gray wood grain walls and stateroom doors feature blue plaques. Sorcerer Mickey’s face is above the number to the side of each door.

Sorcerer Mickey is casting magic across each light fixture. Music notes are within pixie dust that swirls around brooms.

Artwork

Unique original art, old Disney concept art, and more is on display throughout the ship. These are in the elevator lobbies, stairwell walls, and hallways. The aft stairwells feature hero art and the forward stairwells feature villain art. Their walls are also blue and green, respectively, like the Mickey and Maleficent carpet.

This piece depicts the Disney Destiny joining the other ships of the Disney Cruise Line fleet, with locations around representing some of the ship’s heroes and villains. Pride Rock is in the distance on the right. Hercules-inspired clouds and temples are in the lower right corner. On the left is Maleficent’s palace and thorns.

Heroes Art

This Black Panther mural is by Nikkolas Smith, who has created three pieces for Disney Cruise Line and created art for the Black Panther films. The piece is titled “For Wakanda” and Smith said on social media:

This triptych aims to give a glimpse into the glorious nation of Wakanda, from multiple perspectives. The Jabari-Lands, the Golden City, and the River tribe. M’baku sitting on his zero-tech throne in the snowy mountains, T’Challa and the Dora Milaje standing guard at the gates of Birnin Zana, and Nakia among the River tribespeople, serving the local community.

For this mural, The Golden City look is a newly updated take on the retro-future city design I crafted for the art poster of the first Black Panther film.

As a nod to my concept artist days on the film Wakanda Forever, I wanted to create a painterly and scenic snapshot that resembles the art we created in the pre-production phase of the film, helping to give a visual reference of the deep passion and loyalty the Wakandans have for their sacred and well protected nation.

Black Panther is also represented in this tile mosaic at Guest Relations, which depicts T’Challa with the Dora Milaje in the Wakandan landscape. A futuristic structure rises up behind them.

This wall is all about Finding Nemo with concept art for the Pixar film that features Nemo, Marlin, Crush, the Tank Gang, and more.

The pieces have various frames to match their style. These Robin Hood sketches have dark ornate frames. They’re rectangular and round.

There’s a pair of A Bug’s Life pieces in a golden frame. They feature Flik, Atta, and Dot.

Another gold frame features The Rescuers concept art.

This mural depicts Hercules riding Pegasus past Mt. Olympus. His parents, Zeus and Hera, are standing on clouds outside the palace. A new Hercules stage show debuted on the Disney Destiny.

Concept art for Up features Dug, Carl, Russell, and Kevin on a cliff looking at the canyon of Paradise Falls.

This wall is covered in The Lion King artwork. There are landscape pieces depicting famous moments from the movie, as well as various character sketches. Disney Destiny guests get to experience The Lion King with the Pride Lands dinner show.

Another gallery wall is all artwork from the Toy Story franchise. There are early designs for Buzz, Woody, and Jessie alongside full-color pieces.

Frozen 2 concept art shows three horses galloping across a frozen lake, Elsa in the lead. You may notice this piece and some others are actually screens. These are used for the ship’s interactive game, Disney Uncharted Adventure.

Pocahontas artwork features characters rowing down a river through the natural beauty of America.

It’s not just animated movies and Marvel represented — there’s also Star Wars artwork. This gallery wall includes the famous C-3PO and R2-D2 concept art by Ralph McQuarrie.

A pair of Raya and the Last Dragon pieces are framed together.

They are opposite two The Princess and the Frog pieces.

This wall is dedicated to Tangled, featuring two large pieces depicting the lantern festival and Rapunzel’s tower. These are all in golden frames.

This Brave artwork sees Princess Merida aiming an arrow from the back of her steed, Angus.

This Mulan art features an earlier design for the titular character. She holds a bow and has a quiver of arrows on her back.

The Incredibles artwork is all in a retro-futuristic style. The two large pieces in the center feature the Incredibles family and Frozone.

This Monsters, Inc. art includes Mike, Sulley, and Boo. The second piece shows them in the door vault, which will soon get a coaster at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

This pair of screens displays vertical artwork of Joy and Bing Bong riding the Train of Thought in Inside Out.

This storyboard shows the team of Big Hero 6 gearing up and testing their equipment. Though this piece features heroes, it is actually in the villains section.

Villains Art

This wall has artwork of Moana and Moana 2 villains. A long piece along the bottom features various Kakamora. Two pieces at the top depict Te Ka.

These sketches depict Cruella de Vil, Horace, and Jasper in her car.

A large mural features Scar in the center, singing to his hyena followers.

A pair of Pinocchio concept art is in wood style frames.

This wall black and white sketches and full-color artwork of Jafar and Iago from Aladdin.

Hans, the villain of Frozen, is depicted in a colored sketch. He’s paired with a similar piece of Dawn Bellwether in Zootopia. Both are “surprise” villains.

The Old Hag from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is featured in the foreground of this piece, surrounded by scary trees. In the background is the brightly-lit Seven Dwarfs’ cabin with Snow White outside.

The Nightmare Before Christmas is represented with this Oogie Boogie artwork.

A gallery wall is dedicated to the antagonists of The Emperor’s New Groove. Kronk and Yzma artwork is also accompanied by an image of Kuzco’s palace and Kronk’s squirrel friend.

Gaston is depicted flexing in this piece.

Across the hall from Gaston is an image of Dr. Facilier from The Princess and the Frog. Disney Destiny guests can meet him during an exclusive parlor experience.

Ursula, Flotsam, and Jetsam are featured on this mural, looking into the sea witch’s crystal ball at Ariel.

This artwork features Randall from Monsters, Inc.

Though Syndrome, the main villain of The Incredibles, is absent from this concept artwork, it does showcase one of his elaborate monster machines. The scorpion like robot faces off against Mr. Incredible.

This wall of concept art is dedicated to Lady Tremaine, the Stepsisters, and their cat Lucifer from Cinderella. There are various versions of the villains in different costumes.

Two sketches side by side feature Shere Khan and Kaa, the villains of The Jungle Book.

Contrasting the A Bug’s Life artwork at the other end of the ship is this pair of artwork featuring the film’s villain, Hopper.

The Mistress of Evil, Maleficent, is not only featured on the carpet but on her own gallery wall. There’s a piece showing her transformation into a dragon, as well as concept art of her in both forms. There are also two sketches of her sidekick, Diablo the raven.

Madam Mim from The Sword in the Stone is represented with two sketches, one of her in human form and one of her as a cat.

Various villains from Marvel films are in this mural. Thanos is front and center but other villains include Hela, Ultron, Loki, Killmonger, and Obadiah Stane.

They may not be villains in the same way as the other characters on these walls, but some pirates from Pirates of the Caribbean still get a featured piece. This is concept art for the famous scene where imprisoned pirates goad a dog holding a key.

There’s artwork of Little John and his advisor Sir Hiss from Robin Hood.

This wall is dedicated to Peter Pan with a focus on Captain Hook, Peter Pan, and Tick Tock the Croc. There are also general landscape images of Never Land, Skull Rock, and the Jolly Roger.
