On July 30, Storybook Land Canal Boats closed for refurbishment, with scaffolding going up immediately and construction walls shortly afterward dominating the Fantasyland landscape.

Although the attraction won’t reopen until this winter, the construction walls are finally down, revealing a freshly repainted Monstro and a rare view into a dry Ariel’s Grotto.

A large blue whale statue with its mouth open, surrounded by lush landscaping, similar to Disneyland's Storybook Land Canal Boats.

Monstro the whale is absolutely gleaming with an all-over refreshed paint job. While his eyes were closed, we got a good look into his cavernous mouth!

We also got a unique view into Ariel’s Grotto without the waterfall running, showing the vibrant undersea “plants.”
