Our WDWNT reporter saw the excavator at work on Monday morning. It appears to be the same excavator we previously saw moving debris closer to Liberty Square. It’s now located behind the construction walls across from Country Bear Musical Jamboree.

Before the Rivers of America site was completely blocked by walls and scrims, most of the riverboat’s track still ran down the center of the trench. The excavator may mean more track has been demolished.

Tom Sawyer Island, Liberty Square Riverboat, and Rivers of America closed permanently this summer to make way for a new Cars area. Several Tom Sawyer Island buildings have been demolished.

The Cars area is an expansion to Frontierland called Piston Peak National Park. It will have two attractions, including a rally race ride.
