Epic Universe opened to the general public on May 22, 2025. Now, just months later, a permit has been filed that teases a large expansion.
Epic Universe Permit

The permit, which was filed on Friday, suggests the work on”site utilities and foundation work” will begin on a 150,000 square feet location at 1001 Epic Blvd, Orlando, Florida 32819, the address of Epic Universe. The permit also lists “new construction” and May 7, 2026, as the end date. This date would be less than a year after the park opened.

Our photo, taken from the Universal Grand Helios Hotel, shows a wide swath of empty land between the hotel and The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic. Karen Irwin, President and COO of Universal Orlando Resort, said earlier this year, “We’re already planning for the next thing at Epic.”

With this permit’s scope of 150,000 square feet, it is possible that this is the first step in the construction of a new ride or attraction inside the portal. This new building would be roughly the size of the Le Cirque Arcanus show building and Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry combined. However, a specific location is not listed, so the permit could refer to any expansion pad in Epic Universe.
Currently, Epic Universe has eleven rides and two shows across five portals.
Unfinished Projects

This permit comes before the park itself is complete. One building still stands unused in Celestial Park. The building is located between the main entrance of Epic Universe and How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk (if you look closely at the door’s reflections, you’ll see Super Nintendo World). Exterior construction is complete, and the patio is open to guests seeking a shady spot to sit.
There are no indications of what kind of food the restaurant will serve, but it’s expected to be quick-service. Rumors have swirled around the type of cuisine, but the location is set to open sometime next year.
