Disney’s BoardWalk Inn at Walt Disney World has decorated for the holidays with its annual gingerbread house, Christmas trees, and garlands.

The gingerbread house is located in the lobby. There’s also a small treats table that opens in the afternoons.

The “house” is inspired by the BoardWalk Deli near the hotel. The rooftops have icicle and Christmas light trim. Mickey and Friends appear in the windows of the miniature shop.

The shingles of the gingerbread roof tops are dusted with powdered sugar “snow.” Striped awnings stick out over the doorways and windows. On the left side of the building is a bakery.

Figures of Mickey and Minnie are in the bakery window, surrounded by pastries and ingredients. The Mickey figure spins.

A small white board on the wall of the bakery lists “Mickey’s Festive Treats” alongside names. Minnie is working on a tiny Cinderella Castle-inspired gingerbread house.

Pluto’s silhouette is in one of the windows above the bakery. The other features Figaro the cat. Each window has a light inside.

A small street is outside. It features Christmas trees and tiny BoardWalk-branded trash cans.

Below the BoardWalk Deli sign is an entrance doorway and Deli Fountain Resort Mug Refills doorway. The doors are all decorated with wreaths. Above the awnings are red, white, and green sprinkles.

In the center window is Goofy’s silhouette, behind “Hue G. Krazont – Proprieter.” Below the window is a “Fresh Baked Morning, Noon, and Night!” sign.

The windows above the deli feature Daisy and Donald’s silhouettes. The awnings are adorned with garlands of sprinkles. There’s also a working cuckoo clock.

Large Mickey-shaped Christmas wreaths are on either end of the building. The one facing the rest of the lobby hangs above a “Disney’s BoardWalk Happy Holidays” card.

The ornaments on the wreath feature names — presumably of the Cast Members who worked on the gingerbread display. The wreath is also adorned with gumdrops, candy canes, and gingerbread men.

The other wreath features coffee cups, cookies, and popcorn. The faux Christmas lights also end in a pile at this end of the display.

The gingerbread house is made of 68 gallons of orange blossom honey, 54 pounds of flour, 6 pounds of powdered sugar, 18 pounds of fondant, 5 pounds of egg whites, 3 pounds of gingerbread spice, and 2.5 pounds of eggs. 24 bakery Cast Members spent 280 hours decorating the display.

Review: Traditional Italian Cookies – $6.79

A new treat offering is a traditional Italian cookie, also known as a rainbow cookie. These traditionally have a cake-like texture, a jam filling, and a dark chocolate coating.

The BoardWalk version of the cookie features a dark chocolate square topped with a small piece of almond-flavored pound cake; it is cut into layers (colored green, white, and red) which are sandwiched with a thin coating of sweet jam. It’s super moist and pretty sweet, but the dark chocolate is there to even it out. Would we get this again? Possibly. But we want espresso with it.

BoardWalk Christmas Decorations

Garlands hang between the columns throughout the lobby. These feature lights, baubles, and red and gold bows.

More garland and wreaths hang above the check-in desks.

There are two Christmas trees framing the gingerbread house space. They are both topped with a wheel and feature carnival-inspired decorations. Another garland hangs above the fireplace.

Another tree is outside, in the lawn behind the resort. It’s wrapped in white fluffy garland and topped with a red, green, and gold star.

Stay tuned for our coverage of the holiday treats available at the gingerbread house.
