The Walt Disney World Active Calls X account (not affiliated with Disney) reported a police alert for petit theft at Disney’s Beach Club Resort on November 2, 2025 at 8:02 p.m. An arrest report was later released, revealing the full story.

A security manager witnessed the defendant, Katie Green, exit Beach Club Marketplace with Mickey Ears that she did not pay for. The ears were in the basket of her electric scooter and she placed them in her shopping bag after leaving the store.

According to Green, she did pay for the Mickey Ears. When she was purchasing a sweater, she told the cashier that she wanted to purchase the ears that were in her basket. Green stated the cashier then scanned a different pair of ears that she had at the counter.

Green’s story fell apart, though, when the officer checked her receipt. It included the sweater but not Mickey Ears. All of the receipts Green had with her were checked but there was no purchase of Mickey Ears.

The cashier provided the real story. Green asked her for a price on the Mickey Ears and after hearing it, seemed to no longer want them. The police report stated these ears were $36.99, the standard price for Mickey ear headbands which recently increased by $2. Green ultimately purchased the sweater but the cashier assumed she had put the Mickey Ears back.

Green was arrested for retail petit theft. She and her husband were both trespassed from all Disney properties.
