Disney StudioLAB Executive Joining BBC AI Segment

Alice Taylor is leaving the Disney StudioLAB to head the artificial intelligence division of BBC Studios.

Alice Taylor Leaving Disney for BBC AI Lab

Taylor, who previously worked for the BBC, has been Director of Technological Innovation at Walt Disney Studios for a decade. She led StudioLAB, described as a “program dedicated to storytelling via new technology,” which includes interactive content on Disney+ like Remembering.

Taylor will take over BBC Studios Productions AI Creative Lab in five days, reporting to CEO Zai Bennett. She will create a team of two to three people and make a “roadmap” for the BBC to use more AI in the future.

Bennett said, “Alice brings a rare blend of creative vision and technical expertise, and we’re thrilled to welcome her back to the BBC. Her leadership will be instrumental in shaping how we use AI to tell stories in bold, imaginative ways, while staying true to our editorial values and creative integrity.”

BBC Studios said Taylor will “bring together AI specialists, creative talent, and producers to explore how AI can unlock new possibilities, from concept development to production workflows” and ensure their content is “innovative, ethical, editorially sound and technically robust.”

Taylor said, “We have an incredible opportunity to blend cutting-edge AI with world-class storytelling, opening up new opportunities for BBC Studios productions to do what they do best: invent, create, deliver, and scale truly exceptional entertainment.”
