Black Panther‘s Chadwick Boseman will be honored posthumously with a Hollywood Walk of Fame star later this month. Traditionally, only one posthumous star is awarded in each category per year and there is a waiting period of at least two year’s after the person’s passing.
Chadwick Boseman Walk of Fame Star

Boseman’s star ceremony will take place on November 20 at 11:30 a.m. ET. Black Panther director Ryan Coogler and Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom co-star Viola Davis will speak at the ceremony. Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom was Boseman’s last film, released a few months after his death in August 2020.
Hollywood Chamber of Commerce president and CEO Steve Nissen will emcee. Boseman’s wife, Simone Ledward-Boseman, will accept the award on his behalf.
The star, which is in the Motion Pictures category, will be in front of the Hollywood Experience at 6904 Hollywood Blvd. The ceremony will be livestreamed on WalkOfFame.com.
“The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce is deeply honored to celebrate Chadwick Boseman’s extraordinary legacy with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame,” said Ana Martinez, Hollywood Walk of Fame producer. “His powerful performances and enduring impact both on and off screen continue to inspire generations around the world.”
Boseman was originally set to receive a star in 2024 but this was delayed for an unknown reason. Juanita Moore received the posthumous Motion Pictures award instead. Carl Weathers also received a posthumous star (in the category of Sports Entertainment) in 2024, just a few months after his death, because the award was already scheduled prior to his passing. In 2023, Star Wars actor Carrie Fisher received a posthumous Motion Pictures star.
