We Reviewed the Bakery Treats at Disney’s Contemporary Resort Gingerbread Dream Castle

The Cinderella’s Dream Castle-inspired gingerbread display is now installed at Disney’s Contemporary Resort. As usual, the display also has a selection and treats and beverages, including a selection of fresh bakery case items to try. We’ve reviewed the bakery case treats, so you can decide if any are worth your time and money.

There are three bakery case items this year, but there are several other prepackaged items, beverages, and merchandise available, as well.

Pistachio Cranberry and Cherry Cake – $7.79

This is a layered pistachio and cherry cake with what tastes like a fondant topper. The pistachio cherry cake is moist and has a great texture. The pistachio is subtle, but that allows the cherry layers to pop more. It has a bit of a manufactured cherry flavor, but it’s still good and packs a punch. The topper is cute, but we felt like it took away from the flavors of the cake. Despite that, this is a delightful little holiday treat.

Santa Mickey Éclair – $7.29

This has a pie base with a chocolate ganache on the bottom and peppermint on top. A red fondant piece with a white chocolate Mickey adds a very photo-worthy detail. We love this combination of flavors. The pie crust is crumbly but holds the treat together well. The peppermint is subtle and compliments the chocolate base. This treat is prettier than it tastes, but altogether, it’s not bad.

Hazelnut Büche De Noële – $7.79

This is a simple chocolate hazelnut log cake. It is a traditional French dessert with chocolate and hazelnut swirled between layers of cake. It also has a decorative wreathe made of sugar on top. If you like hazelnut and chocolate, this is the treat for you. The pair combines much like a peanut M&M, and the cake texture is soft and moist. It isn’t super exciting but a nice option for the less adventurous guest.

Other gingerbread displays with snacks include those at BoardWalk Inn, Beach Club, Animal Kingdom Lodge, and Wilderness Lodge.
