25th Anniversary Gingerbread Carousel Opens at Disney’s Beach Club Resort

The annual gingerbread carousel at Disney’s Beach Club Resort is complete and the adjacent treats counter is open. The Beach Club and Yacht Club were putting the final touches on the lobby display yesterday. This year marks the 25th anniversary of the gingerbread carousel and it features the number 25 throughout.

The gingerbread carousel actually spins, showing off four horses with a fifth stationary horse to the side. Foliage surrounds the display and stanchions keep guests from touching it.

The stationary horse is dressed like a baker with a white chef’s hat and shirt, a checkered bridle, and a checkered saddle pad. It’s a white horse with black speckles and a black mane dotted with candies. Around its saddle are baking ingredients and treats, plus a rolling pin and cookie cutters.

Next to this horse is a gift box with a label addressed to “Our Cherished Guests” from the Disney’s Yacht & Beach Club Resort Bakery Team.

The carousel has red and white-striped poles. Red and white flowers are at the bottoms of each pole, the center column, the base, and the roof overhang.

A white horse on the carousel features snowflake details and candy horseshoes. Its saddle, bridle, mane, and tail are all candy cane and peppermint-inspired.

The number 25 is on the front of its bridle and the side of its saddle. The details are mostly red and white with some green peppermints.

This horse is inspired by classic gingerbread houses and cookies. It’s light brown with a darker brown saddle. Gingerbread men are on its saddle pad, above a trio of gingerbread houses.

The number 25 is on a Mickey-shaped gingerbread cookie on its side. Cookie cutouts are on the straps of its saddle. It has snowy details on its neck and legs.

Its mane and tail are shades of brown with white tendrils. They are adorned with small colorful decorations, as well as candy canes and gingerbread men.

A pedestal next to the carousel features information about its construction.

The gingerbread carousel is made of:

  • 432 pounds of honey
  • 1,200 of rye flour
  • 100 pounds of eggs
  • 25 pounds of spices
  • 10 pounds of simple syrup
  • 200 pounds of icing
  • 10 quarts of egg whites
  • 100 pounds of confectioner’s sugar
  • 200 gumpaste flowers
  • 50 pounds of dark chocolate
  • 20 pounds of Grand Marnier
  • Lots of enthusiasm, energy, and talent
  • 2024 pieces of gingerbread

It features 25 hidden gold Mickeys.

This horse is chocolate brown with a white fluffy mane and tail. On its saddle pad is a Yule log with red berries and spotted mushrooms.

The bridle has a red, green, and yellow plaid pattern. The number 25 is made out of Yule log-inspired candies.

The mane and tail are adorned with mushrooms, green leaves, red berries, and pinecones.

The final horse is bright yellow with a design inspired by Christmas oranges and almonds. Its white saddle and pad are trimmed with orange and yellow fruit slices.

Red and green candies separate by almonds are strung along the straps. The 25 is on a golden Mickey head. Its hooves feature red ribbons.

Its mane and tail are brown, orange, yellow, red, and green, adorned with almonds and candies. It also wears red bows.

The roof of the carousel features spots of snow and candy canes. In the center is a red and green birthday cake with the number 25 on top.

Lining the edge of the roof are Mickey gingerbread men and white carousel horse cookies. The latter are available for purchase at the treats counter (more on that below).

Mickey icon cookies are around the base of the carousel. White icing separates the tiles.

Blue and white snowflake cookies adorn the center column.

Another pedestal next to the carousel honors the Cast Members who worked on this year’s carousel and past displays.

The carousel is in the lobby all the time but operates from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. This is also when the treats counter is open.

Signs alongside the springerle carousel cookie and stollen bread include a history of the treats. Springerle are German anise-flavored cookies.

Stollen bread is also a traditional German food item. It’s a spiced loaf with an array of fruit, nuts, spices, and marzipan topped with powdered sugar.

25th Anniversary Macarons Review

Gingerbread Macarons – $11.79

This set includes four macarons. Two are the traditional circle shape with red and green cookies. Two are shaped like gingerbread men with icing decorations.

One of the circular cookies features “25th Anniversary” text while the other has a carousel horse. They are all filled with chocolate gingerbread spiced ganache. We mostly tasted chocolate with a hint of gingerbread. The almond flour shells make them a gluten-friendly treat. They are crispy with a festive presentation but aren’t anything special. We wish they had different flavors.
