As the Disney Destiny continues her transatlantic crossing to Florida, Walt Disney Imagineering is continuing to put the final touches on the ship. Today’s project: installing the Black Panther T’Challa atrium statue.

Disney Destiny Atrium Statue
Walt Disney Imagineering is documenting their days onboard the Destiny’s transatlantic crossing in a series of “Crossing Diaries” on their Instagram Stories. Today’s Day 3 Stories feature the heart of the ship: the Black Panther-inspired Grand Hall and its atrium statue of T’Challa, the first in Disney Cruise Line history of a Marvel character. The ship also has the cruise line’s first Marvel stern character, Spider-Man.

The first story is a couple seconds long and features the title “Unwrapping something exciting!” as cast members carefully remove moving blankets and tape from around a large bundle.

In the second Story, the blanket is pulled back to reveal the panther figure that stands alongside King T’Challa. We can see T’Challa’s foot peeking out from the larger wrapped figure next to the panther.
We got our first look at the final statue in April when Walt Disney Imagineering shared a reel on Instagram.

Yesterday’s Crossing Diaries focused on unwrapping the ship’s artwork, specifically a trio of still lifes outside Hook’s Barbery.
The Heroes & Villains-themed ship will set off on its maiden voyage from Port Everglades on November 20.
