Feeling a need for more Viking helmets, weaponry, and dragon merchandise? Commemorate your visit to Berk with a stop by Viking Traders in How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk at Epic Universe.
About

Viking Traders is one of the main merchandise locations inside How To Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk at Epic Universe. Themed as a Viking general store, it sells a variety of land-specific merchandise items. Read Universal’s description below:
Nestled beneath a neighborhood of dragon houses perched high on the mountain above, the Viking Traders shop offers all the necessary supplies new Vikings might need for their adventures on Berk. You’ll find Viking toys, helmets and shields, plush dragon toys and other fun essentials.
Exterior

The exterior of Viking Traders is modeled like one of the Viking houses seen throughout Berk. The front has a reverse V-shaped arch above the entrance, which is decorated with blue and yellow detailing. In the center of the arch is a carved dragon head.

Additional Dragon Houses are perched on top of the store building and around the sides, making the whole section look like it has been built into the nearby mountain.

The “sign” for the store has each letter of the name outlined on the front of multicolored lanterns attached to a ledge above the doorway.

Either side of the building is flanked by painted dragon columns holding faux brazier light fixtures in their mouths.

Right around the corner from Viking Traders is the How to Treat Your Dragon store, and the two share the same internal building.
Interior

Moving inside Viking Traders, the store is more of a long and narrow rectangle with merchandise displays on the walls, as well as some small displays in the center of the space.

A themed occupancy sign near the entrance warns that the maximum number of “hooligans” allowed is 46.

Viking traders is meant to look like the interior of a Viking-built house, so it has tan walls with wood-style columns and matching wood beams across the ceiling. The room is lit by a mixture of lights built into the merchandise shelves, some inbuilt ceiling lights, torch-style wall sconces, and hanging metal lanterns.

The wall displays look like various pieces of Viking furniture, as though multiple pieces were shoved together. Many of them are painted different colors and have ornate carvings along the slides.

The floor of Viking Traders is a mixture of tan and darker brown strips meant to look like wood planks, though it is actually closer to tile or concrete in texture.

The check-out counter for Viking Traders is located along the left wall, about halfway down the store.

More of the shelves and displays on this left wall match the same style of various pieces of furniture all being shoved together. Even the heights of the displays intentionally do not line up.

Viking Traders sells a variety of items, including some general Berk merchandise, dragon-themed apparel, shields, and some cooled beverages.

The tops of the displays, close to the ceiling, are all decorated with Viking props.

These include a mix of items every Viking would need, from swords and axes to bottles and lanterns. Some of the taller displays also have shelves with bigger shields and chairs near the top.

One display featuring armor-themed apparel is topped by a row of Viking horned helmets.

The interior of Viking Traders extends all the way to the back of How to Treat Your Dragon. The entrance of that store is marked by the appearance of the dragon scale carved columns on either side.

Guests can walk freely between both shops and pay for their merchandise at either check-out location. Check out our full video and tour post if you want to see more of How to Treat Your Dragon.

Moving back to the check-out counter specifically for Viking Traders, the front has a carved image of two coiled dragons in a shape similar to an infinity symbol.

The computers and register equipment are hidden behind taller wood panels on either side. The left has a carving of a red dragon that appears to be a Monsterous Nightmare, similar to Snotlout’s dragon, Hookfang. The right has a Deadly Nadder similar to Astrid’s dragon, Stormfly.

Behind the counter is a display with mannequins wearing some of the store’s apparel, such as Viking helmets and shields. The mannequins are made to match the land, as they are constructed with wood and have fabric heads stuffed with straw. Art painted on crinkled paper in the back says “Gear Up.”
