Exterior

The Oak & Star Tavern is located off to one side of Celestial Park, close to the entrance portal for Dark Universe.

The restaurant building is frames by several small trees, some of which are its namesake oak trees.

One tree near the entrance is framed by a circular fountain and surrounded by flowers.

The fountain has water flowing from around the tree down via several small waterfalls into a lower circular pool.

The nearby concrete continues the astrological theming of Celestial Park with concentric rings reminiscent of the phases of the moon.

The building for the tavern is brick with bronze, green, and white detailing. The front entrance has green double doors surrounded by square windows and some white columns.

The sign for The Oak & Star Tavern runs horizontally across the entrance, below a larger semicircle window. It is decorated with bronze-tinted metal cut like tree leaves and small white star lights.

Some of the small star lights continue down the side walls of the building.

While the full menu is posted inside, there is a digital menu board placed outside for guests who want to read before entering.

The Oak & Star Tavern is supposed to resemble a more hidden gathering spot in the woods, so the nearby plants include more trees and some forest-style flowers.

If you walk around the fountain with the tree toward the right side of the building, guests will find The Plastered Owl, an indoor-outdoor bar area.

A smaller sign with the bar’s logo is attached to the wall on the right side of the entryway.

The outdoor portion of The Plastered Owl is a kiosk-style bar area with multiple ordering windows.

The interior leads right into the indoor dining space for The Oak & Star Tavern.

Above the ordering windows are several rectangular stained glass installations. These are the first of several we will spot throughout the restaurant.

Overhead, guests appear to be standing in the forest with more of the leaf-cut panels decorated with bright yellow star lights.

The covered outdoor area also has some metal ceiling fans to try and help negate some of the Epic Universe heat.

The white columns by both the entrance and The Plastered Owl are white, but they are painted with added green plants near the bottom and cloud outlines across the top.

The greenery includes some pale blades of grass, wildflowers, and butterflies.

The top of each column is gold with carved images of woodland creatures such as mice and turtles.

As with most Epic Universe quick-dining locations, each table has a QR code for ordering. These are designed with a faux stained glass motif.

Guests who just want to grab a beverage at The Plastered Owl can grab one of these outdoor tables, though there is indoor seating as well.
Interior

Once guests push open the double doors, they are greeted by a wide-open dining room in rich shades of brown and green.

The central feature is a large fireplace framed by carvings of trees, stars, and owls.

The fireplace is made using the same brick as the exterior, which is carried inside on most of the walls. A large compass-style star icon is set in the middle of the trees, framed by the branches and stars.

Hanging in the middle of this main room is a large metal chandelier with individual yellow bulbs hanging off the sides.

You may also notice some pots, pans, and other bronze-colored kitchen equipment hanging down from the trees.

Sitting inside the glass-covered fireplace are two metal owls with gold eyes, perched on top of what would normally be a grilling area. This fireplace is more for the aesthetic than actually cooking your food.

The ceiling level gets lower on the sides of this main hall, with tables scattered behind more columns.

The ceiling is held up with more of the same white columns with carved animals and painted grass that are seen outside.

The walls above the columns are covered in more classic red and brown bricks, some of which form arches between each column.

Inside the brick arches are more star icons framed inside circles.

The left half of the room has a more standard ordering counter, which is where guests can pick up alcoholic beverages as well.

This area has some of the first tables. These are round tables with heavier furniture, such as padded wingback chairs in green, gray, and brown.

An arch leads guests into some of the additional seating areas.

This area on the right side of the restaurant has more traditional square tables with metal and wood chairs.

There is an exit door and an open walkway to the outside, connecting both halves of The Plastered Owl (which we will look at in more detail in a moment).

The far left wall has some bench seating with booth-style tables.

The walls in the space are all still brick, but painted with green oak leaves.

The ceiling above the tables has more of the lit-up leaf panels seen outside.

The room has signs pointing to a nearby restroom and a trio of Coke Freestyle machines.

The corner around the side of The Plastered Owl has a wood semicircle area that appears similar to a stage.

All of the square windows in this section have decals making them look like stained glass. The art depicts a large oak tree with colorful animals living in the branches.

Despite being a modern eatery, the room has a more cozy, fantasy feeling thanks to the warn tones and lighting.

Several of the walls are covered in more wide windows that add some natural light to the space.

The back wall of this room has a brick fireplace between the windows.

The top is decorated with another gold compass rose and some smaller gold stars attached to the brickwork.

Continuing the fireplace trend, this same room has another fireplace off to the left side, opposite The Plastered Owl.

This fireplace is still brick at the top, but the bottom is more ornate with a green painted mantle, a forest-themed metal screen, and tiles with woodland animals attached on the sides.

The wood walls next to the fireplace have carvings of tall trees surrounded by weeds, with butterflies flitting in the branches.

The space near this smaller fireplace, as well as the left-side wall of the room, are lined with booth-style tables.

The booths are separated with wood walls and stained glass panels showing oak leaves and a compass rose design.

The bench seats themselves are covered in red fabric with a black geometric pattern resembling leaves.

Finally, the chairs at the nearby tables are metal and wood with a flat back. The top of the back is carved with a series of acorns framed by more oak leaves.
Stained Glass & More Details

Moving back to the main entrance for a moment, let’s take a closer look at some more of those stained glass details.

These are the usual square glass panes surrounding the entryway, but they have more of the stained glass decals.

The decals are all textured to look hand painted, with variations in the colors and brushstrokes.

As one would expect, this art depicts two oak trees framing either side of the door, with birds, squirrels, and butterflies hiding in the branches.

The floor is mostly tile and concrete with a subtle astrological pattern and more traditional square tiles.

Zooming in on some of the painted bricks, we can also see some larger animals like wolves hiding between the oak trees.

Some of the animals depicted have names and might be referenced on the menu, such as the Rambling Racoon beverage over at The Plastered Owl.

Behind the bar and again on the opposite wall are two mirrors overlaid with wood carvings of woodland creatures.

In addition to the (Plastered) owl, there is a racoon, bunnies, a bird, and a squirrel.

You’ll continue to find more hidden creatures across most of the painted walls, often in corners or places that might be easily overlooked.

More animals can be found above the beams that run across the ceiling, in corners, near the restrooms, and more.

Finally, more stained glass can be spotted in the corner near The Plastered Owl, in the area that seems similar to a stage.

The glass in this area follows a similar pattern and style to the glass seen by the main entrance, with a pattern created via decals expanding over all the individual panes in the space.

Rather than several smaller trees, this whole section is designed like one large tree that has its branches expanding all the way to the walls.

As with the other stained glass windows, there are animals living in the tree branches.
The Plastered Owl

Moving back to the right side room, let’s take a closer look at The Plastered Owl.

As mentioned previously, half the bar is inside and half is outside, with the exterior walls of the restaurant splitting the hexagonal bar down the middle.

The interior has some actual high chairs for guests who want to sit at the bar, though some gaps are left on the sides for guests who just want to walk up and order.

The bar itself uses the same rich wood color as the rest of the space, with dark metal, green tile, and stained glass accents.

Speaking of stained glass, the top of each section has more of the branch and compass rose decals as the exterior.

The center of the bar is modeled like the trunk of a tree, with the namesake owl perched in the middle.

The branches of the tree rise up to meet the ceiling. There are also more star-shaped pendant lights hanging down.

Finally, the bottom half of the bar, below the counter, is covered in tiles similar to those seen on the sides of the nearby fireplace.

The rectangular space is covered in emerald green tiles lined with gold filigree tiles that have acorns woven into the design.

Running in a row across the middle are green and brown square tiles with images of woodland animals like squirrels, owls, rabbits, and more.
Coca-Cola Freestyle Machines

Finally, the room with The Plastered Owl has a row of Coca-Cola Freestyle machines for getting beverages or refilling the Universal refillable mugs.

The machines are painted off-white with a compass rose, stars, and green leaves.

Since The Oak and Star Tavern is located in Celestial Park, these machines carry the land-specific beverage flavor called Celestial Spritz.
