Officials have confirmed a guest passed away at Disney’s Contemporary Resort on Thursday, marking the third death at Walt Disney World this month.

We reported on Thursday that emergency personnel were present outside Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, but officials were not able to confirm at the time what happened.

A representative for the Orange County Medical Examiner’s office confirmed to Entertainment Weekly (EW) that a guest died on Thursday, October 23. They identified the guest as Matthew Cohn.

EW states Cohn had a medical emergency, but provides no other information. The representative said, “His examination is not yet complete, therefore the Cause of Death and Manner of Death have not been determined.”

Also at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, guest Summer Equitz died of apparent suicide on October 14. Despite social media reports that she was hit by a Monorail, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office confirmed this was not true.

On October 21, at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground, a man in his 60s experienced a “medical episode” and was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

All three events are seemingly unrelated.
