The photo op car has returned to Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater at Disney’s Hollywood Studios after a month-long absence.

Sci-Fi Dine-In Car Returns

The Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater car has been gone since at least September 19. It was completely removed, leaving just some marks on the pavement where it used to be. Guests can usually find the car in front of the retro billboard outside the restaurant.

Guests relax by a blue car-shaped booth under the vintage "Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater" sign, unlike any Disney park castle scene.

As of October 15, the car is back. There are no obvious changes to the car, but it appears to have been cleaned and repainted.

It’s bright blue with fresh white seats. The front bumper and “window” frame are shiny silver. Even the headlights look clean.

Guests can sit in the seats for a unique photo op. There is often a Disney PhotoPass photographer stationed at the car.

The car is nearly identical to those inside the restaurant, but without tables in front of the benches.

The refurbishment comes just a few weeks before Disney Jollywood Nights begins at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. In years past, the car and surrounding area has been decked out for the event, as seen below.

We don’t know if the car will be decorated again, but the refurbishment may have been timed to ensure it’s squeaky clean before Jollywood Nights begin.
