Oswald was created by Walt Disney and Ub Iwerks in 1927 for Universal Pictures. Universal took over the character in 1928, and that is when Walt created Mickey Mouse as a replacement.

Oswald the Rabbit was featured in many animated short films from 1927 to 1938. He is known as one of the first cartoon characters with a personality, reflected through his movements, facial expressions, and overall design.

International Animation Day was observed yesterday, October 28, and Disney Animation shared some new animations of Oswald, created by Tyler Pacana. Check it out below:

In the first animation, Oswald runs into an imaginary staircase. He then uses his finger to see it, and as he goes up the stairs, the top half of his body disappears.

The second animation shows Oswald pushing a ladder to an open spot in the ceiling. As he goes up the ladder, the ladder falls over taking the open spot with it. The ladder falls again, taking Oswald and the open spot for a bit of a ride. He finally puts his head through the spot, which them comes out on the opposite end of the ladder.
