New FuelRod kiosks have arrived at some Walt Disney World Resort hotels and select theme park locations, offering a new mobile charger option — and a price increase.

New FuelRod Kiosks

We spotted new kiosks at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, Magic Kingdom, and EPCOT. According to Cast Members, they have rolled out resort-wide starting on October 6.

The new machines are larger in size than the ones that previously existed across Walt Disney World. They are closer in scale to some of the FuelRod machines that have been in use at Universal Orlando Resort. Each machine has been painted and has text matching the theme of their respective store or location.

FuelRod Options

A touchscreen kiosk in a Disney park shows three FuelRod charger kits and cables, ready for purchase by guests on the go.

Previously, there was only one FuelRod kit option available from Walt Disney World machines. There are now three options to choose from: FuelRod Cable, FuelRod MAX10 Kit, and New FuelRod Kit.

The “New” FuelRod Kit has been available at Walt Disney World for over a year. The charger is the same size, shape, and look as the original FuelRod, but has a higher battery capacity.

Guests who trade in their old FuelRod get the new kit free of charge. In addition to the charger, it includes these adapters/cables: 3-inch USB-C to USB-C cable, 3-inch USB-C to Lightning cable, USB-C to USB-A adaptor, and USB-C to USB adaptor.

However, the New FuelRod Kit has increased in price by $2 from $38 to $40. Guests who already have a FuelRod can continue to swap them for free at Walt Disney World.

The FuelRod Cable is $20. It’s a long green cable cable with two USB-C ends and adaptors to change one side to Lightning and the other to USB-A. This is handy if you need a longer cable than the 3-inch ones that come with the kit, or if your other cable broke.

FuelRod MAX10 Kit

The FuelRod MAX10 Kit is $80. The MAX10 is a larger charger with even more battery power. Plus, unlike the original FuelRod, it offers wireless charging.

You can still plug something in if you’re on the go, and it includes the same cables and adaptors as the smaller FuelRod kit. After purchasing one, guests will be able to swap their MAX10 for free at compatible FuelRod machines.

While a regular FuelRod is available for purchase at any FuelRod machine and online, the MAX10 is currently only available at select locations like theme parks. They were made available at Universal Orlando Resort earlier this year.

Note that while FuelRod machines at Walt Disney World offer free swaps, there is a charge at other FuelRod machines, including those at Universal.
