A directional sign has been removed from the Lost Continent, a Universal Islands of Adventure land that is about to go through significant construction.

Lost Continent Directional Sign Removed

The sign previously hung from this totem pole of animals outside the Treasures of Poseidon gift shop. It pointed guests to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. The Jurassic Park and Toon Lagoon signs remain on the other side of the pole.

A themed stone pillar with animal carvings and directional signs, reminiscent of Disney parks; guests stroll amid lush landscaping.

Prior to the closure of Poseidon’s Fury, the sign also pointed to that attraction.

The removal of the sign might not be related to impending construction. It may have been damaged and could return refurbished.

Lost Continent History and Future

Universal has filed a permit for renovation of 7 acres at the Lost Continent. PR Director Kristen Smith previously confirmed to OBJ, “In the coming months, there will be construction activity in Lost Continent as part of site planning to ensure the area is ready for any future developments.”

Lost Continent is one of eight themed islands at Universal Islands of Adventure in Universal Orlando Resort. In 2010, it was partially demolished and taken over by The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Hogsmeade. The Eighth Voyage of Sinbad closed in 2018, followed by Poseidon’s Fury in 2023, leaving the land without any attractions. The Sindbad theater has remained intact with set pieces fully visible, and there have been no clear signs of construction at the site of Poseidon’s Fury. Construction walls were up outside the attraction for just a few days.

How to Train Your Dragon took over part of the Lost Continent this spring to coincide with the release of the live-action remake.

Construction at the Lost Continent may be for a brand new land. In recent months, Universal Destinations & Experiences CEO Mark Woodbury has talked about plans for expansion at Universal Orlando Resort, particularly at Epic Universe, but also at the other theme parks. There have been rumors of a Legend of Zelda expansion to Super Nintendo World or as a Lost Continent replacement. There have also been calls for a Wicked-themed land, which Woodbury addressed.
