Chewbacca will appear in his traditional Life Day costume for a meet and greet during Disney Jollywood Nights this year.
Life Day Chewbacca Meet and Greet
Disney teased the meet and greet in the Instagram video below. It offers glimpses of Chewie getting his red Life Day robe and orb ready.
Life Day is a Wookiee holiday celebrated on the planet Kashyyyk, which honors family, joy, and harmony. The crimson red robe worn by Chewbacca is a ceremonial garment worn by many Wookiees for Life Day.
Life day is usually celebrated on November 17, which also happens to be the date of one Disney Jollywood Nights event. Therefore, it’s possible part of the reason for Chewbacca’s appearance is to help celebrate the Star Wars holiday.
This is the first time Chewbacca has ever greeted Disney guests in his Life Day costume.
Jollywood Nights at Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Disney Jollywood Nights is a separately-ticketed, after hours holiday party on select nights at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. It takes place on 13 dates in total from November 8 – December 22, and November dates are set for select Saturdays and Mondays. The December dates are on select Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays.
Tickets for the first night have already sold out, but the remaining dates are still available.
This year will include a few new offerings, including:
- See Miguel at Holiday Fiesta en la Calle in a new location near Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith
- See Bing Bong at Grand Avenue and Partysaurus Rex at Toy Story Land
- Enjoy “The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure” and “Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After” during event hours
- Snack on the new Backlot Express Restaurant specialty menu (more details to come soon)
- A new Jollywood Nights merch collection (see the merchandise preview)
