Lazy River Confirmed by Aerial Photos of Disney Lakeshore Lodge

The latest aerial photos of Disney Lakeshore Lodge under construction at Walt Disney World seem to confirm the new Disney Vacation Club resort will have a lazy river.

Aerial photographer bioreconstruct shared these photos on X. The resort is under construction on the former River Country site next to Fort Wilderness, across the water from the abandoned Discovery Island. The above photo was taken from approximately 3,100 ft in the air.

Between two rings of Disney Lakeshore Lodge, crews are working on the foundation of a pool and what is almost certainly a lazy river. It was previously rumored that Disney Lakeshore Lodge would have an extensive pool area, including a lazy river, as well as a splash pad, feature pool, and leisure pool. The lazy river at the feature pool would be only the second at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel; the first is Stormalong Bay at Disney’s Yacht & Beach Club Resort.

The lazy river is a nearly complete oval of concrete, with yellow plastic sheeting over a section. It’s next to the concrete pool foundation, which includes steps at one end and a ramp at the other end. The lazy river is directly behind the resort’s entrance — the red framework visible at the bottom of the above photo.

A building separate from the hotel wings is under construction between the lazy river and the titular lake’s shore. This could be a restaurant.

On the other side of a wing from the pool and river, a dock under construction in the lake. A crane sits on Floatmasters in the water at the end of the dock, which is currently just supports in the water. In the above photo, you can also see some of the resort’s A-frame cabins in the trees to the right.

More A-frame cabins are on the left side of the resort. These originate from the Reflections – A Disney Lakeside Lodge concept, the precursor to Disney Lakeshore Lodge. Though Disney hasn’t released official concept art for Disney Lakeshore Lodge, so far construction indicates it is following the Reflections plan.

Disney Lakeshore Lodge will have a nature theme and is scheduled to open in 2027. Stay tuned as we continue to follow the construction and update you on its progress.
