A large tree that previously blocked theme park views from several rooms at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa has now been removed.
Grand Floridian Big Pine Key Building

The Big Pine Key building reopened at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort after an extensive refurbishment in 2022. The building holds Disney Vacation Club resort studio rooms, which were the first normal guest rooms at the resort that were converted into the new DVC style.

Among the exterior refurbishments, stairwells were demolished and rebuilt, landscaping was improved, and a small porte-cochère at the entrance was added.
Views from Big Pine Key

The rooms at Big Pine Key are advertised as having a “Theme Park View” of Magic Kingdom. However, several of the rooms on the left side previously had an obstructed view due to a large tree.
In a recent update, it appears this tree has been removed and no longer blocks this side of the building. Shorter palm trees now replace said tree that blocked the view from those staying in the Disney Vacation Club suites. With this change, all of the rooms on this side will likely now qualify as full Theme Park View rooms, instead of them being considered obstructed.
Big Pine Key is on the east side of the main building at the resort and faces Seven Seas Lagoon. You can watch our full video tour of the updated Big Pine Key building and DVC studio below.
In other news, amid its lengthy refurbishment, the lobby of Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa recently reopened for guest use with new furniture and carpet.
