One of the goats has returned to Big Thunder Mountain Railroad at Disney World during the ride’s multi-month refurbishment.
Goat Returns to Big Thunder Mountain

While not the iconic Billy the Goat, who holds a stick of TNT in its mouth, another of the attraction’s goat has returned to its spot on the ride.

This goat’s home is at the top of one of the mountains, and he has evidently been receiving some freshening up. He was gone for a period of time, but he has now returned.

We also noticed that several areas have been repainted and refurbished. The light brown matte spots are complete, while the rougher spots are still in progress. Other recent updates include moving the construction walls next to the entrance structure.

Scaffolding remains throughout the attraction as work continues.
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad has been closed since January 2025 to complete an extensive refurbishment. The experience will be mostly the same, but it is receiving an all-new track along with a new opening scene.
