Epic Universe Adds More Signage for Monster Makeup Experience to Celestial Park & Dark Universe

Even more signs have been added to various locations across Epic Universe, not just in Dark Universe, to advertise the Monster Makeup Experience.

What is the Monster Makeup Experience?

Two people outdoors with monster makeup; one showcases a black-and-white skull design, the other sports green skin and stitching details, both standing by a wall with foliage for a striking makeup experience.

The Monster Makeup Experience is a separately-purchased activity, during which professional makeup artists transform guests into a monster of their choice using face paint and accessories. Guests can choose from a variety of styles inspired by Frankenstein’s Monster, vampires, The Creature from the Black Lagoon, and many more. The pricing varies from $45 for just the makeup to $169 for the makeup plus accessories. The experience lasts roughly 20 minutes.

During our complete review of the experience, we thought the Monster Makeup itself was fun, but the Team Members really helped to sell the experience with knowledgeable recommendations and a commitment to the theme of Dark Universe.

As one added note, guests wearing the Monster Makeover face paint cannot buy alcohol anywhere in Epic Universe (or the nearby CityWalk) while wearing it. The face paint can also cause some issues with using facial-recognition lockers.

First Wave of Signage

Posters in a window advertise Epic Universe’s Monster Makeup Experience, with spooky faces as people pass by outside.

When Epic Universe first opened on May 22, signage advertising the Monster Makeup Experience was more subtle. However, Universal later added multiple signs and posters around Dark Universe to bring attention to the offering. In addition to larger signs added inside Pretorius’ Scientific Oddities, posters were attached to a few of the building windows with the slogans “Transform Now,” “Become the Undead,” and more.

Latest Monster Makeup Signage

Epic Universe signage advertising showcases mannequin heads with monster makeup on a cart along the stone street.

However, it appears Universal has decided these more subtle reminders were not enough to draw guests to the Monster Makeup Experience. Inside Darkmoor, there is now a cart stacked with props inspired by the experience found near the door to Pretorius’ Scientific Oddities.

The cart has a stack of wooden crates. The crate on top is slid open, with face-painted mannequin heads and some monster parks visible inside. The panel to the left says “Ship To: Monster Makeup Experience.”

The crate on the bottom has been turned sideways so the up arrow actually points toward the experience check-in area.

For the first time, signage for the Monster Makeup Experience has also been added to locations outside Dark Universe. We found this display of monstrous merchandise inside Other Worlds Mercantile in Celestial Park.

While this shop always sold Dark Universe merchandise, the display has now been modified to include more Monster Makeup Experience advertisement signs.

A poster attached to the side of the display mirrors those seen in Darkmoor, promoting “Monstrous Transformations.” There is also a mirrored sign in a gold frame saying “Transform Now! At the Monster Makeup Experience.”
