Disney has filed a new trademark application that seemingly confirms the name for the new land coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios based on Monsters, Inc.
Monsters, Inc. Land

Disney first announced that a Monsters, Inc. area would be coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios, complete with Disney’s first vertical lift coaster, during D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan event in 2024. It was only later confirmed that the new area would be taking over Muppets Courtyard, resulting in the closure of MuppetVision 3D and PizzeRizzo.
Guests will enter the ride through a Monsters, Inc. headquarters facade at the back of the former Muppets Courtyard. All the roller-coaster-related facilities will be brand new to the space, but several other Muppets Courtyard & Grand Avenue structures will be reused for the new Monsters, Inc. land.
At the time of the announcement, Disney kept the official name of the land somewhat vague. The area was casually referred to as the “new Monsters, Inc. land,” “world of Monsters, Inc.,” or occasionally Monstropolis by fans. However, Disney never confirmed which of these names would actually be used when the land opened.
New Trademark Application

However, Disney has just filed a new trademark application, specifically for the term “Monstropolis.” The application was filed on October 10, and is set to cover a huge variety of uses ranging from entertainment in the nature of theater productions, amusement park and theme park services, distribution of entertainment, and many related areas.
This implies Disney is at least considering “Monstropolis” as the final name for the new land, particularly as none of the related terms have received similar trademark applications yet.

This Monstropolis name also matches the title that was included with the recently-added preview center display inside Walt Disney Presents. The left half of the display has some of the previously-released concept art for the land and attraction, all below the title “Monstropolis.”
Other new additions featured in the preview display include a model of Pueblo Esperanza, the town coming to the Tropical Americas land in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and art of Piston Peak for the upcoming Magic Kingdom Cars land.
