Disney Replaces Old Washed Out African Outpost Posters at EPCOT

Disney has replaced the old and washed out posters in the Refreshment Outpost (also known as the African Outpost) at EPCOT.

Disney updated Amani Village Traders a few years ago to become more culturally sensitive. One change Disney made was to remove tribal masks and replace them with posters.

Later that year, street artist WiseTwo painted the murals you see in the photo above.

A vibrant Amani Village Market Tours sign brightens EPCOT’s African Outpost wall, accented with masks and colorful mural art.

One poster is an advertisement for Amani Village Market tours. It features a bowl with various fruits and the village in the background.

Poster says “See The Mara” with animal masks and lush plants, evoking Disney’s EPCOT African Outpost style but no castle shown.

The second poster is also an advertisement, this time for The Mara river watercraft excursions. There is an image of the river with elephants in the water and a hot air balloon in the sky.

These posters have aged over the last years, looking old and washed out from the sun. In our report from June 2025, the posters were so washed out you couldn’t even read what was on them.

Disney has recently replaced them with newer posters, which are still the same ones from before. The wrinkling in the posters is intentional to give it an authentic look.

At the outdoor refreshment stand, labeled "Refreshment Outpost," excited patrons approach the counter. Surrounded by colorful flags and lush trees under a clear blue sky, it feels like a vibrant scene from the Festival of the Arts.

Amani Village Traders is an open-air African marketplace featuring African-themed musical instruments, wood carvings and soapstone sculptures.

Nearby, the Refreshment Outpost serves up snacks like slushies, DOLE Whip in a Waffle Cone, alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages, and festival-specific dishes.
