Disney Cruise Line has officially taken ownership of the Disney Destiny ship during a delivery ceremony.

The Disney Destiny was constructed by Meyer Werft at their Papenburg shipyard. After its first float out in August, it departed the shipyard for sea trials in the North Sea last month. A delivery ceremony was held in Eemshaven, Netherlands, transferring ownership from Meyer Werft to Disney Cruise Line.

Disney Signature Experiences president Joe Schott accepted the ship’s delivery alongside Sharon Siskie, senior vice president and general manager of Disney Cruise Line; Captain Andy McRonald; and of course Captains Mickey and Minnie Mouse.

Captain McRonald will soon lead the Disney Destiny on its transatlantic journey from Eemshaven to its homeport in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

The Heroes & Villains-themed ship will set off on its maiden voyage for Port Everglades on November 20.
