The statue of Buzz Lightyear that usually stands outside the Once Upon a Toy store entrance in Disney Springs has been removed from its pedestal and replaced by potted plants, likely as part of a routine refurbishment.

As seen in the image above, the entrance to Once Upon a Toy in Disney Springs is usually framed by two large-scale statues of Buzz Lightyear and Mr. Potato Head from Toy Story. Mr. Potato Head stands on a container of Play-Doh to make him appear taller, while Buzz is standing by himself.

However, as of October 9, Buzz Lightyear is now missing from the entrance. Only his round pedestal remains attached to the concrete in his usual spot.

Seven potted plants line a pillar at Once Upon a Toy in Disney Springs as guests walk past the Buzz Lightyear statue nearby.

In place of the statue, the pedestal is now surrounded by a row of several potted plants.

The plants wrap around the entire pedestal base, plus there are a few more plants standing on the top. Presumably, Disney does not want guests standing on top of the pedestal while Buzz is missing.

We assume Buzz has been removed for a routine refurbishment, and will return in the next few weeks.

This is a similar process to what happened to Mr. Potato Head earlier this year. Back in July, Mr. Potato Head was removed and replaced with a single potted plant, as seen in the image above. The plant was later replaced with a studier box covering the pedestal (likely also to keep guests from standing on it). The statue returned with a fresh coat of paint after a few weeks.

The statues of Aurora and Cinderella near World of Disney were also both removed for refurbishment this year, and they both returned after being repainted.
