Spaceship Earth has reopened one week early after a refurbishment.
Spaceship Earth Reopens

The iconic EPCOT attraction reopened on October 18 despite a previously announced reopening date of October 25. It closed on August 25 for a routine refurbishment, meaning general maintenance and upkeep would be performed.

The inside of the ride saw no major changes, but on the exterior, a long-broken lighting effect was restored to one of the oval signs. The other sign’s effect has yet to be restored, but sources indicate that it will still be worked on despite the end of the refurbishment.
More attention was given to the base of the attraction — including the back section that hosts Project Tomorrow — with repainting and panel replacement completed. No noticeable changes were made to the Alucobond triangles that make up the geodesic sphere.

Inside the geodesic dome is a slow-moving dark ride throughout human history, focusing on the growth of communication and technology around the world. The sets and figures, including audio animatronics, have been refreshed.

There have been no recent updates on a previously announced (and then indefinitely delayed) reimagining of Spaceship Earth, which would have seen the addition of Disney characters to a ride that has not featured any since its opening in 1982.

Spaceship Earth Lounge

The back of the building, where Project Tomorrow is located, also hosts the new GEO-82 Lounge, an adult-only (21+) space themed to Spaceship Earth. Guests can even touch real Alucobond panels. The menu offers light fare and beverages, and reservations are required.
