More construction walls are up next to the entrance of Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, which is currently closed for a major refurbishment.
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad Construction Walls
Previously, there were walls further up the exit queue path, past a water fountain. The walls are now right next to the entrance structure for Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. They run down the sidewalk on the right, past the former Tom Sawyer Island dock.
This cuts off that water fountain and makes slightly less space for guests. Though there isn’t much to do in this area, there are a pair of tables and umbrellas where guests can relax.
For reference, above is what the construction walls looked like a few weeks ago.
Since our last update, the green wagon in the queue has been covered by a plastic sheet. This may just be to protect it from construction nearby. Crew members were repainting some of the rocks in front of the queue building last month, but this work seems complete.
We saw several crew members and Imagineers in the queue on Friday morning. There were previously tool benches and other materials on this ramp, but they have been moved.
Much of the queue building is still surrounded by scaffolding.
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad will reopen in 2026. The ride experience is expected to be similar, but it got all new track and is expected to have a new opening scene.
