Our reporter spotted a new display of framed antique barbershop implements on a wall in Emporium Shop.
Vintage Barbershop Display
The themed arrangement is next to the checkout lines and features eight framed pieces in black frames with red mats: three shadowboxes with barbering tools and five documents.
Going from left to right, first is a shadowbox featuring a beard trimmer flanked by black beard combs; below is a pair of straight razors, one with a light wood handle and the other with a black handle.
The top left frame contains five numbered barbering receipts with “Please Pay Cashier, Thank You” in the middle. A repeat of this design is also in the top right.

Between the shadowboxes on the bottom row are framed price lists. The left is for several types of barbering tools, with multiple varieties of clippers, shears, lather brushes, and neck dusters.

The middle shadowbox has a straight razor above three trimming scissors, then two combs laid horizontally, and finally two metal-handled clippers at the bottom.
Hung above is a framed certificate proclaiming “Manufacturer and Dealer, Barber Supplies, Cutlery and Grinding, Geo. Waldman, 321 West Third St., Davenport, Iowa. Established 1869.”

Between the middle and rightmost shadowbox is a price list for “Hair Preparations” and “Face Preparations.”

The final frame in the arrangement is a shadowbox with a clipper, goldtone metal comb, trimmer, two black combs, two scissors, and three safety razors.
