Abu Statue Restored to Original Adventureland Location at Magic Kingdom

Following the refurbishment of the Adventureland sign at Magic Kingdom, the golden Abu Fab 50 statue has been returned to its original location.

Abu Returns to Adventureland Sign

Guests assemble before Adventureland’s wooden sign at a Disney park, tropical foliage framing the entrance; no castle is visible.

The sign and props were removed in early August. A new banner was installed with refreshed props in mid September. During the refurbishment, the Abu statue was moved from the sign structure to a post at the back of the bridge.

Guests gather beneath the wooden “Adventureland” sign with tribal masks and skulls at a Disney park entrance, no castle in view.

He can now once again be seen on the right side of the sign, hanging onto a post. The golden statue was first installed at Magic Kingdom for its 50th anniversary in 2021 as part of the Disney Fab 50 Collection. Though the 50th anniversary is long over, the statues remain.

Their “50” medallions were replaced in 2023. Abu now holds a compass-like globe medallion. With MagicBand+, guests can interact with the statues, activating special sounds. They can also play the Disney Fab 50 Quest and use the Play Disney Parks App to view AR animations.
