Production has been paused for the upcoming Marvel film Spider-Man: Brand New Day after actor Tom Holland suffered a concussion while filming.

News of the production pause was shared in an article by Deadline. The incident reportedly took place on Friday, September 19. Holland was filming a stunt on the set for Spider-Man: Brand New Day when he was injured, though there are no additional details of exactly what the stunt involved. However, it was confirmed that no other cast members or crew were hurt.

Holland was hospitalized following the accident, and is said to now be “recuperating.” Deadline also notes that even though Holland has been seen filming outside on the streets of Glasgow, Scotland, the accident took place on the Pinewood Studios set in London, which is where most of the recent filming has been taking place, “for most of September, we’re told.”

According to Deadline, production was paused following the accident on Friday, and filming was expected to resume today, September 22. However, a more recent article from Variety claims production will be paused for “a week.”

It has been confirmed that the pause in production is not expected to have an impact on the film’s scheduled premiere date of July 31, 2026.

The title of the fourth film in the Tom Holland-led Spider-Man film was revealed this April. Holland later appeared in a short teaser clip for the movie, and he was wearing a “new” suit based more on the classic Spider-Man suit from the comic books.

In addition to Holland, Brand New Day stars Sadie Sink, who has been rumored to play a version of X-Man Jean Grey. Mark Ruffalo has been confirmed to reprise his role as The Hulk, and Michael Mando will be returning to his role as the Scorpion, first seen in 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming. Additional returning characters include Zendaya as MJ, Jacob Batalon as Ned, and Jon Bernthal reprising his role as Frank Castle / Punisher.

Brand New Day‘s release originally fell between Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, but the Avengers films were delayed. Brand New Day will now premiere first, followed by the Avengers films in December 2026 and December 2027.
